I have been asked this several times this season, and I have been wrong each time.
But I now believe it is time to take the Los Angeles Lakers seriously.
Why else would I elevate them nine spots to eighth in my latest NBA Power Rankings?
Well, here’s why. Dwight Howard appears to be all in, if not physically, then certainly mentally. The offense is starting to click the way most folks expected Mike D’Antoni’s offense to click. And Pau Gasol could be back very soon.
Add that to Kobe Bryant’s indomitable will, and these is no reason that the Lakers – currently eighth in the Western Conference – cannot climb past Utah and Golden State into sixth.
That doesn’t assure the Lakers of getting out of the first round. And there are still issues on the defensive end, which I discussed with Cinesport’s Noah Coslov. Click on the box below to give a listen.
