$300 Friday Freeroll Open to All
You don’t have to wait for tomorrow’s Sheridan Hoops Freeroll to be a winner in daily fantasy hoops leagues. There are Salary Cap and Pick ‘Em games tonight, even with just two NBA games on tap.
In the Freeroll, first place is worth $100 cash and there’s no entry fee. Counting the consolation prizes for finishing second through 15tth, $300 will be paid out, and you can’t lose, so it makes sense to take your best shot.
There’s only $60 left in my $100 weekly bankroll, but one good night can make your week and I’ve had my share of luck on Thursdays, when the player pool is smaller than usual. That doesn’t mean it’s easy to win; even the 15 names we mention in the chart can be combined into hundreds of different 8-man lineups.
DraftStreet 15 | Mar. 14 |
Stars | Over $13,000 |
LaMarcus Aldridge | $18,104 |
Dirk Nowitzki | $15,287 |
J.J. Hickson | $14,823 |
Tim Duncan | $16,935 |
Damian Lillard | $16,103 |
Scrubs | Under $9,000 |
Eric Maynor | $7,842 |
Chris Copeland | $6,581 |
Jae Crowder | $7,545 |
Gary Neal | $4,535 |
Iman Shumpert | $5,346 |
Starters | $9,000 to $13,000 |
Vince Carter | $12,950 |
J.R. Smith | $12,532 |
Raymond Felton | $12,579 |
Manu Ginobili | $11,006 |
Tiago Splitter | $10,443 |
There are no expensive superstars tonight, and very few alternatives in the top salary bracket. I’m keying on the Trailblazers, in a must-win situation at home against a tired opponent with some key injuries. Enter early, before the most lucrative contests fill up. You can make roster changes until the 8:00 EDT deadline.
F1 LaMarcus Aldridge (POR-F) $18,104
F2 Chris Copeland (NY-F) $6,581
G1 Damian Lillard (POR-G) $16,103
G2 Vince Carter (DAL-G) $12,950
C1 J.J. Hickson (POR-C) $14,823
C2 Tiago Splitter (SA-C) $10,443
U1 Manu Ginobili (SA-G) $11,006
U2 Wesley Matthews (POR-G) $9,967
The above lineup is guard-heavy because the pickings are very slim at C and not much better at F. You could choose Tim Duncan or Dirk Nowitzki over Aldridge, and if you think Iman Shumpert will stay hot, he’s a tremendous bargain. Again, the Freeroll is fun and the price is definitely right, but your odds of winning money are about ten times better in the $1,000 GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool) events with a $2 entry fee. Those have half as many entries, more than triple the payout and more than three times the number of cash prizes.
