1. Often viewed as a defensive-minded team, the Indiana Hoosiers are second in the nation in points per game. shot attempt. This supposedly defensive-minded team is an offensive juggernaut.
2. You know how Indiana’s offense is all high-powered and disproving the notion that Indiana is all about defense? Well, the Hoosiers are holding opponents to 38.8 percent shooting from the field. They’re also limiting opponents to 30.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc and own an plus-18.6 point differential by allowing 62.2 points per contest.
3. According to Sports-Reference.com, only two players since 1998 have shot at least 60 percent from the field and 45.0 percent from three-point range while attempting at least 250 field goals and 50 three’s. Those two players are Creighton’s Doug McDermott in 2011-12 and Indiana’a Victor Oladipo in 2012-13.
4. All five of the Indiana Hoosiers’ losses in 2012-13 have come by single-digits. That includes an 88-86 overtime loss to Butler, a 64-59 defeat against Wisconsin, a 74-72 loss at Illinois, a 77-73 defeat at Minnesota and a 67-58 loss against Ohio State.
5. All five of Indiana’s losses have come against teams in the RPI Top 50. In that same breath, nine of their wins have come against those in the RPI Top 50 and additional four were against opponents from 51 to 100. In other words, Indiana has dominated their inferior opponents and gone 13-5 against those whom are close to their equals.
