OK, consecutive win #22 is in the history books and Miami’s stars didn’t have to play huge minutes, so they should be ready to extend the streak in Boston. Dwyane Wade (24 PTS, 9 AST, 3 REB) and LeBron James (22 PTS, 12 REB, 8 AST, 2 STL) led the way as usual, with former Raptor star Chris Bosh chipping in 18 points and Ray Allen (20 PTS) draining four 3-pointers. For Toronto, Rudy Gay (27 PTS, 8 REB, 4 AST) and Amir Johnson (18 PTS, 18 REB, 3 AST) were outstanding, and Jonas Valanciunas (18 PTS, 7 REB) had a good game, but Kyle Lowry was scoreless, missing all seven shots.

ORL @ MIL: For three quarters, my pick of the ‘green team’ on St. Patrick’s Day looked bad. Then Monta Ellis (39 PTS, 6 REB, 5 AST, 3 STL) took over, with scoring an amazing 25 in the fourth. Three other Bucks double-doubled; Ersan Ilyasova (20 PTS, 11 REB) and Larry Sanders (13 PTS, 11 REB) were solid and Brandon Jennings (15 PTS, 14 AST, 2 REB, 2 STL) had only one turnover in a fine effort. Arron Afflalo (24 PTS, 4 REB, 4 AST) was the high scorer for Orlando, with Nikola Vucevic (20 PTS, 15 REB, 4 AST) very sharp. Rookie Maurice Harkless (23 PTS, 9 REB, 2 STL, 2 BLK) had one of his best games as a pro.
NYK @ LAC: The Knicks didn’t have much of a chance, with Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler sidelined by knee injuries, but the Clippers didn’t exactly run them out of the building. Blake Griffin had a modest double-double (12 PTS, 12 REB, 3 AST, 2 BLK) and Chris Paul (20 PTS, 8 AST, 4 REB) was the game’s high scorer. Caron Butler (14 PTS, 5 REB) was 4-for-6 from 3-point range in his return from an elbow injury. J.R. Smith (17 PTS, 6 REB) and Raymond Felton (16 PTS, 9 AST) led the undermanned visitors.
GSW @ HOU: Of all the possible outcomes, the Rockets being held under 80 points at home was the only one I never considered. Stephen Curry (29 PTS, 11 AST, 5 REB, 2 STL) hit five 3-pointers and Klay Thompson (26 PTS, 4 REB) drained six triples as the Warriors romped by 30. Houston shot less than 33% and scored just ten points in the first quarter in by far their worst game of the season. James Harden (21 PTS, 10 REB, 8 AST, 3 STL) wasn’t to blame and Jeremy Lin (21 PTS, 4 AST) played well enough, but their teammates were horrible in what was a very important game. Houston could have taken over sixth place in the West with a win; now they are only a half-game out of eighth.
NOH @ MIN: In a welcome surprise, Nikola Pekovic (13 PTS, 6 REB, 2 BLK in 24 minutes) and Andrei Kirilenko (8 PTS, 5 REB, 2 BLK in 25 minutes) both returned from injuries; Pek had missed eight games and AK-47 nine. Ricky Rubio (16 PTS, 6 AST, 2 REB, 2 STL, 2 BLK) didn’t have to shoulder the offensive load alone, as Derrick Williams (28 PTS, 7 REB) had a career high. For the Hornets, Greivis Vasquez (24 PTS, 7 REB, 5 AST) and Robin Lopez (20 PTS, 11 REB) were outstanding and Anthony Davis (17 PTS, 9 REB, 2 AST, 3 STL) continues to play well — the rookie is averaging a double-double in March.
