To LeBron, or Not To LeBron, That is the Question
Already, nearly 300 earlybirds have entered this week’s Sheridan Hoops Freeroll, which doesn’t close until 7:00 on Friday evening. It’s fun, it’s challenging, it’s absolutely free and there’s $300 in cash prizes to the top 15 finishers, no strings attached. Everyone should enter, because hey, it’s money for nothing.
Another great Yogi Berra line applies to some extent. “Nobody goes there anymore; it’s too crowded.”
Last week’s Freeroll was a 1,259-1 shot. That overwhelming popularity makes it far more difficult to win than $2 leagues, in which the number of entries is capped and the prize pools considerably larger. There are cash leagues for the NBA every night, and some great NCAA contests begin tomorrow.
There are 11 games tonight, with 290 players from 22 teams to choose from. You can put together an 8-man team in literally millions of different ways. We try to narrow down the choices in the chart, which makes 15 suggestions, five in each price range. Before filling in the rest of your roster, you must make your own LBJ Decision.

The King is returning to Cleveland, where he’s kind of a big deal. His team is on the second-best winning streak of all time. If you think he’s going to go for 30-10-10 with a handful of blocks and steals, his $22,312 salary is pretty reasonable. If you are worried, like me, that the Heat will be up by 20 at halftime and able to give their stars some rest, the price is too high. All leagues close at 7:00 EDT and you can make unlimited lineup changes until that deadline.
F1 Tim Duncan (SA-F) $19,264
F2 Tayshaun Prince (MEM-F) $9,999
G1 James Harden (HOU-G) $19,293
G2 Gerald Henderson (CHA-G) $13,923
C1 Omer Asik (HOU-C) $11,787
C2 Samuel Dalembert (MIL-C) $5,161
U1 Jamal Crawford (LAC-G) $9,590
U2 Gordon Hayward (UTA-G) $10,925
I’m also steering clear of Kevin Durant in a back-to-back against a tough defensive team. Hoping for Samuel Dalembert to play well two nights in a row may be wishful thinking, but he will probably start again with Ilyasova hurt, and the price is too good to resist.
