DraftStreet Survivors
Maybe it’s the distraction of the NCAA tournament. Maybe fantasy sports aficionados are busy preparing for their baseball drafts — my biggest one is tonight. For whatever reason, there are less than 250 teams entered in this week’s Sheridan Hoops Freeroll, which closes at 7:00 pm Eastern on Friday. In previous weeks, we’ve had twice as many by this stage.
There are money leagues tonight, even with only three NBA games. Compared to last night, when there were almost 400 players to choose from, the pool has a modest 79 names on Thursday, many of whom have no chance of playing. However, even when you narrow it to 15, as I do in the chart below, there are thousands of ways to assemble an 8-man team. The game is always a challenge and usually fun; last-minute scratches are frustrating and a little more commonplace at this time of year.
DraftStreet 15 | Mar. 28 |
Stars | Over $13,000 |
Kobe Bryant | $18,438 |
Dwight Howard | $16,998 |
Dirk Nowitzki | $15,578 |
Roy Hibbert | $15,301 |
Monta Ellis | $14,276 |
Scrubs | Under $9,000 |
Kendall Marshall | $4,544 |
Antawn Jamison | $7,773 |
Mike James | $8,759 |
Jodie Meeks | $7,270 |
Lance Stephenson | $8,559 |
Starters | $9,000 to $13,000 |
Isaiah Thomas | $11,854 |
Shawn Marion | $11,736 |
Tyler Hansbrough | $10,919 |
Luis Scola | $10,593 |
Vince Carter | $9,679 |
You can make unlimited roster moves until the 8:00 EDT deadline, and I strongly advise you to check for updates on various injuries before finalizing your lineups.
F1 Dirk Nowitzki (DAL-F) $15,578
F2 Antawn Jamison (LAL-F) $7,773
G1 Kobe Bryant (LAL-G) $18,438
G2 Vince Carter (DAL-G) $9,679
C1 Dwight Howard (LAL-C) $16,998
C2 Roy Hibbert (IND-C) $15,301
U1 Marcus Thornton (SAC-G) $8,694
U2 Jason Thompson (SAC-F) $6,897
The Lakers scored 120 last night and every game for them is must-win. My only strategy is to use as many as I can afford.
