Congratulations to “rayhead” who won the $100 first prize in last night’s Freeroll by scoring over 300 points. “FuriousandtheBigGuy” earned $60 for second and “gryfin1” gets $30 for finishing third. I made a bad call on Jose Calderon against his former team and lost another key player to an early injury, finishing a distant 165th out of 624 teams.
Friday Results
ATL @ BOS: It’s been a blessing for owners of Jeff Green (27 PTS, 4 REB, 4 AST, 2 STL, 3 3PTM) that Kevin Garnett (ankle) is out. Paul Pierce had a triple-double (20 PTS, 10 AST, 10 REB) and Jason Terry was 5-for-7 from 3-point range while adding 24 off the bench. Josh Smith (18 PTS, 6 REB, 4 AST) had a poor shooting night (7-of-23) and Al Horford (illness) didn’t play, so Atlanta never seriously menaced. Rookie Mike Scott had 19 points in 23 minutes off the bench; file him away as a sleeper candidate for next year.
WAS@ ORL: An ankle injury to Jameer Nelson after eight minutes wrecked my Freeroll team but the Magic won without him as Tobias Harris (30 PTS, 11 REB,3 STL, 3 BLK) had yet another superb night. E’Twaun Moore (15 PTS , 5 AST, 4 REB) and Beno Udrih (10 PTS, 9 AST) did a nice job filling in at guard and Maurice Harkless (18 PTS, 9 REB) also contributed. John Wall (35 PTS, 9 REB, 2 AST) led the Wizards and Martell Webster (19 PTS, 6 REB, 3 AST) returned after missing two games.
PHI @ CLE: The result was no surprise but Evan Turner (23 PTS, 13 REB, 4 AST) finally made his owners smile. Spencer Hawes (16 PTS, 11 REB, 5 AST, 2 BLK) and Jrue Holiday (20 PTS, 6 AST, 5 REB) continue to play very well. Cleveland lacks a go-to scorer because of injuries; C.J. Miles (19 PTS, 5 REB, 3 AST) and Tyler Zeller (14 PTS, 10 REB, 3 AST) were the brightest lights in defeat.
CHA @ NYK: If you’re compiling a fantasy all-star team, find a spot for Gerald Henderson (35 PTS, 7 REB, 3 AST, 2 STL) who toils in relative obscurity but has been a tremendous bargain. Carmelo Anthony (32 PTS, 11 REB, 2 AST) and J.R. Smith (37 PTS, 2 REB) had to play more minutes than expected but the Knicks were never threatened after a 38-point barrage in the opening quarter.
OKC @ MIN: Upset alert! Kevin Durant (36 PTS, 7 REB, 3 AST) and Russell Westbrook (18 PTS, 9 AST, 4 REB) were certainly not bad, and Serge Ibaka (10 PTS, 11 REB) blocked five shots, but the Timberwolves were really inspired. Nikola Pekovic (22 PTS, 15 REB) is fully healthy, Ricky Rubio (17 PTS, 7 AST, 4 STL) was the facilitator and Chase Budinger (13 PTS, 3 REB) is helping off the bench.
