Monday brought forth a great many things, but NBA games were not one of them.
So, what was the big news on a day when the dominating headlines all built up to the NCAA National Championship game?
The 2013 Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame inductees were formally announced Monday at a ceremony in Atlanta, host site of the NCAA Final Four.
In a congratulatory text, Boston Celtics guard Jason Terry said the following.
That’s right, it’s official. ‘The Glove’ is now a Hall of Fame inductee.
Joining Payton in this years HOF class are Louisville Cardinals head coach Rick Pitino, former University of Houston coach Guy Lewis, Jerry Tarkanian of UNLV fame, current UNC women’s coach Sylvia Hatchell, former University of Virginia and WNBA star Dawn Staley, and former NBA star Bernard King.
While Terry was congratulating Payton, Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson was giving his respects to coach Pitino whom he played for with the New York Knicks (’87-89).
Pitino’s Louisville Cardinals face off against the Michigan Wolverines for the National Championship Monday night in Atlanta.
To all of the inductees, our congratulations.
