2/21/13- Houston traded F Marcus Morris to Phoenix for a 2013 second-round draft pick. Traded F Patrick Patterson, C Cole Aldrich and G Toney Douglas to Sacramento for C Thomas Robinson, F Francisco Garcia and F Tyler Honeycutt.
Is this more of Daryl Morey’s diabolical genius at work? The Rockets not only got a high second round pick for Morris, who was seemingly a redundant player for the team, and traded a trio of back-end rotation players to the Kings for the fifth pick of the 2012 the draft and Garcia’s expiring contract at over $6 million.
There is the novelty appeal of having both Morris twins on the same team, but Marcus has been awful since his trade to the Suns. His field goal percentage is down, his free throw percentage is below 45 percent and his PER is below 10.
Patterson’s field goal percentage is just a tick under 50 percent with the Kings in 23 minutes per game off the bench, but that doesn’t justify giving up so early on Robinson and dealing a valuable asset in Garcia.
Winner: Houston. The Rockets got Robinson and may have enough money to lure Dwight Howard from Los Angeles this summer. Phoenix and Sacramento are both clear losers here.

2/21/13- Golden State traded G Charles Jenkins and cash to Philadelphia for a protected second-round draft pick. Traded F Jeremy Tyler to Atlanta for cash and future draft considerations.
This deal got the Warriors below the luxury tax threshold, which makes it a winner for their owners. The two players dealt have logged a total of 17 1/2 minutes played in the 48 days since this deal occurred.

2/21/13- Atlanta traded G Anthony Morrow to Dallas for G/F Dahntay Jones.
Both players are on expiring contracts, so it was just a matter of fit for both teams. Jones has been pretty terrible for Atlanta, shooting under 39 percent from the field with an offensive rating of 89 and a defensive rating of 108. It seems like a D-League player would probably be better. Morrow hasn’t done much in the 5.5 minutes per game he’s played in 12 contests with Dallas, so the trade is pretty insignificant.
Winner: Dallas. Morrow’s expiring deal is worth $4 million to the $2.9 of Jones. So the Mavs get rid of more money.

You call the Heat winners cause their trade freed up time for Chris Anderson, but no mention that the Knicks dealing Brewer freed up the spot to sign K-Mart.
