- Although the Mavericks season will officially end with the regular season, Chris Kaman has his sights set on a return to Dallas next season. More from Dwain Price: “The Mavs signed Kaman to a one-year, $8 million contract last summer in hopes that he could become their every day starter at center. But Kaman has been in and out of the starting lineup this season because of his inconsistency, and is averaging 10.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.”
“I’d love to be back, but I don’t know what’s going to happen with the organization,” Kaman said after Friday morning’s shoot around at American Airlines Center. “I don’t know what’s going to happen with the team — I have no idea.”
- New Orleans rookie Anthony Davis will miss the rest of the season, according to NBA.com: “The Hornets say Davis was diagnosed Thursday with a sprained medial collateral ligament and bone bruise in his knee and that further evaluation and an MRI showed no additional structural damage. Davis has averaged 13.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 28.8 minutes per game this season.”
- The Chicago Bulls ended the New York Knicks 13-game winning streak Thursday night, and SheridanHoops’ Moke Hamilton believes it’s a good thing: “But what would be better than a 13-game regular season win streak would be a 13-game playoff win streak. And the only way that could happen is if the Knicks stay as far away from Chicago as possible, for as long as possible.”
- More on the Knicks: “All things considered, the Knicks are putting the finishing touches on their most successful regular season in quite some time. But as great as the win streak was, in the grand scheme of things, nobody will remember it if the Knicks fail to make a deep playoff run. Two of Anthony’s self-stated goals for this season have been met. The Atlantic Division crown has been clinched and the Knicks have won 50 games.”
- Who came out on top in the last edition of our Sixth Man rankings at SheridanHoops? Find out from Tim Faklis: “While major alterations to the list have been made throughout this process, the race ultimately has come down to two players on opposite sides of the country: Los Angeles Clippers guard Jamal Crawford and New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith.”
- According to David Aldrige of NBA.com, the Sacramento ownership group has been given more time to make Kings’ offer: “A source with direct knowledge of the negotiations said that the Maloof family would be willing to give a group of investors looking to keep the Sacramento Kings in that city additional time, as late as through this weekend, to deliver a written matching proposal to the $341 million binding offer that the family received in January from a Seattle-based group that wants to move the Kings there next season.”

Stephen Jackson, waived by Spurs, not eligible for playoffs if picked up by another team. Clearly, Spurs don't tolerate straying from plan.
