RANK | PLAYER | RUNDOWN | LAST |
| NIKOLA VUCEVIC, C, ORLANDO: The Vucevator clinched the top spot by going out with a double fake-ID (21 pts, 21 rebs) and then a monstrous 30 and 20 vs. Milwaukee on Wednesday. He is averaging 18 and 15 since returning from a concussion. These numbers were unthinkable from a guy who spent all of last season in sweats. | 1
| GREIVIS VASQUEZ, G, NEW ORLEANS: Vasquez has gone from borderline D-Leaguer to the third-leading assists man in the league in the span of two years. He averaged 9 dimes per game this season, which trails only Rajon Rondo and Chris Paul. Vasquez has been more quietly unbelievable than John Hiatt. | 2
| JRUE HOLIDAY, G, PHILADELPHIA: While everyone gushes over Paul George, the truth is that The Jruth had a better season than the Pacers’ forward. He nearly doubled his assists total and made himself into a top-flight point guard despite playing on a listless, crappy team. | 3
| PAUL GEORGE, F, INDIANA: There’s no question that George has had a remarkable season and that he is one of the most improved players this season. Putting him fourth in these rankings isn’t a slight to him; it’s a compliment. He was too good of a player last season to win this award. | 4
| OMER ASIK, C, HOUSTON: It’s probably not fair that a guy who more than doubled his points and rebounds totals and finished third in the league in boards is fifth in the rankings, but that’s life. In another season, Asik could have been the runaway winner. But the competition this season was just too tough. |
