By beating the Rockets, the Lakers avoided the eighth seed and consequently, Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder – a team most felt would take the Lakers out in quick fashion. This didn’t stop Kendrick Perkins from being impressed by what he saw:
The matchup between the Lakers and Spurs should be nothing short of intriguing – even without the presence of Kobe – but Los Angeles will need Steve Nash to find a way to return from injury sooner rather than later, especially with news that Manu Ginobili will be ready to go in the first round. The depth the Spurs have, along with homecourt advantage will make it a mighty tough series for the Lakers to come out on top. If we’ve learned anything about the Lakers down the stretch of this wild season, though, it’s that they have great resiliency. Still, the Spurs will surely be ready for the challenge:
