2nd straight year NBA's Defensive POY was 2nd team All-D -- Chandler, now Gasol. Anyone who bashes media vote should look at coaches vote.

More fuel for your All-D award apathy: Mike James, who sat the bench for 79% of the Mavs' season, got a First Team vote.

It turns out LeBron James probably led all vote getters for All-Defensive, with drop-down menu crediting vote to Mike James.

Dwight Howard got more NBA All-Defensive team votes than Roy Hibbert. Interesting.

It begs the question, why is the media voting on the DPOY award?

Should be a mixed panel. I would say NBA coaches have a better idea of which players pose the most problems for their teams on offense.

Perhaps Jarrod Gillis, from Hardwood Canvas, has the right idea. Perhaps these individual accolades should all be voted on by a panel that includes media and coaches. Maybe, then, we’d get results that made sense.
Until that day comes, we will all have to settle for results that vary and opinions that continue to differ.
