The NBA announced the All-Rookie Team on Tuesday.
Sheridan Hoops announced it on April 11.
We ran a weekly Rookie Rankings this season, and while the Rookie of the Year was decided sometime before the All-Star break, it remained to be seen who would join Portland’s Damian Lillard among the NBA’s top five rookies.
In a vote of head coaches who could not vote for their own players, Lillard was joined by Washington’s Bradley Beal, New Orleans’ Anthony Davis, Cleveland’s Dion Waiters and Golden State’s Harrison Barnes.
All five players were named on a maximum 29 ballots, but only Lillard received 29 first-place votes. Beal and Davis received 28, Waiters received 21 and Barnes 11.
We also picked four of five Second Team members correctly. The coaches’ picks were Detroit’s Andre Drummond, Toronto’s Jonas Valanciunas, Charlotte’s Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Detroit’s Kyle Singler and Cleveland’s Tyler Zeller.
Drummond and Valanciunas were on 25 ballots, with Drummond receiving 10 first-place votes and Valanciunas six. Kidd-Gilchrist was named on 26 ballots but received just three first-place votes.
Singler had one first-place vote and 15 seconds. Zeller had three first-place votes and nine seconds.
Our final tally had Orlando’s Moe Harkless over Zeller. In the coaches’ voting, Harkless and Minnesota’s Alexey Shved finished one point behind Zeller.
