When was the last time you saw Udonis Haslem have a game like that?
The oft-criticized Miami forward had his best game of the entire season — and the postseason — in shooting 8-for-9 from the field and scoring 17 points, leading the way during Miami’s 70-point first half as the Heat regained control of their Eastern Conference finals series with Indiana by crushing the Pacers 114-96 Sunday night in Game 3.
Haslem’s previous season-high was 13 points — done once in the playoffs and once during the regular season — and he reached double figures in points only six times during the regular season. In the playoffs, he has done it four times.
And then there is Chris Andersen, whose freakishness shows no bounds.
Andersen was 4-for-4 in Game 3, making him 13-for-13 in this series and 35-for-41 overall in the playoffs. He has not missed a shot since Game 4 against Chicago, and he has had seven postseason games in which he has made every shot he has taken.
What was that argument about the Heat being vulnerable along the front line? It’s an argument that could have been made back in January or February, but not since.
Miami is an astounding 50-6 since the Birdman dropped his wings in South Beach.
