MIAMI – The Miami Heat knew they could not go to San Antonio down 2-0, and as much as the Spurs wanted Game 2, once it started to get away from them it simply snowballed into a blowout.
A 33-5 run ended it, and a game that was compelling for two and a half quarters quickly morphed into garbage time by the midpoint of the fourth quarter. That is what happens when the Heat force turnovers (San Antonio coughed it up 17 times after doing so only four times in Game 1) and build up a head of steam — not to mention getting balanced offensive contributions from the non-superstars to help offset a 10-point game by Dwyane Wade and a slow start by LeBron James, who missed 10 of his first 12 shots.
