- The Charlotte Bobcats have reportedly made last years No. 2 overall pick, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist available: “The reason the Bobcats braintrust of Rich Cho and owner Michael Jordan believe Porter will be available is because, SheridanHoops has learned from league sources, the Washington Wizards are determined to draft Anthony Bennett of UNLV with the No. 3 pick. A second league source said the Bobcats have been working the phones, gauging the interest level among teams for the 2nd pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. “MKG” had an up-and-down rookie season for the Bobcats averaging 9.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.5 apg, 0.9 bpg and 0.7 spg. Among the teams most interested, according to the source, are the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics.”
- Nets GM Billy King is working on a move to bring Kevin Garnett to Brooklyn: “Multiple sources told the Daily News that the Nets GM inquired about Kevin Garnett’s desire to join Deron Williams in Brooklyn, but King didn’t get an answer while uncertainty surrounds the Celtics. Garnett, 37, has a no-trade clause in his contract, which he vowed not to waive last season. But circumstances changed dramatically with the Celtics following a first-round playoff loss to the Knicks, with GM Danny Ainge committing to rebuilding and Doc Rivers bolting to the Clippers. A proposed deal that would’ve sent Garnett to the Clippers with Rivers was blocked by the NBA because it’s illegal to package a coach with players. Rivers’ new contract includes a stipulation that the Clippers and Celtics can’t swap players until the end of the 2013-14 season. So Garnett and his two-year, $24.4 million contract are seemingly on the market. His teammate, Paul Pierce, is probably also on Brooklyn’s radar after being a target for consecutive trade deadlines.”
- Despite having another year on his contract with the Miami Heat, Ray Allen may not opt-in: “Except . . . those are just two of the three Heat players with player options for next season, with Ray Allen the third. The player-option deadline is Saturday. The reality is that Ray Allen is not opting in. As previously mentioned in this space, Allen benefits by not opting in, by not settling for the one year, at $3.2 million, remaining on the two-year deal he signed last summer when he left the Boston Celtics. Instead, he now can utilize the arcane Non-Bird exception in the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement. With that measure, he can start a new contract next season at a 20-percent raise over the $3.1 million he earned this past season. In addition, under the Non-Bird guidelines, Allen can use that salary-cap exception to build a contract as long as four years, with annual 4.5-percent raises.”
- Could Eric Bledsoe finally be on the move? Orlando might have the right deal for the Clippers to finally pull the trigger: “Sources told ESPN.com on Tuesday that a trade with those two players as the principals could happen as soon as this week and potentially could be expanded to include Magic forward Andrew Nicholson and a future first-round pick as compensation for the highly coveted Bledsoe. But the long-awaited arrival of Doc Rivers as the Clippers’ new coach and senior vice president of basketball operations could push any Bledsoe trade into July — or maybe even longer — because Rivers is a well-known Bledsoe fan who has indicated he’d like to keep Bledsoe around if possible. The greater likelihood remains, however, that keeping Bledsoe around as Chris Paul‘s very capable backup is a luxury the Clippers won’t be able to afford as they continue to try to construct a roster with title-contending staying power. It’s been a working assumption in league circles the Clippers would try to trade Bledsoe before next season as soon as they were certain that Paul would re-sign this summer after becoming a free agent on July 1.”
- Orlando also has decisions to make with the No. 2 pick in this years draft, Chris Sheridan has more: “Victor Oladipo reminds me of Dwyane Wade, which is one of the reasons why I believe the Orlando Magic will take him with the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft Thursday night. Even if Nerlens Noel is available (our draft guru, Joe Kotoch, has Alex Len going No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Cavaliers in his latest Mock), the Magic have no need for Noel because they already have Nikola Vucevic, who may just be the best center in the Eastern Conference (Brooklyn Nets fans may disagree.) I also believe the Arron Afflalo-Eric Bledsoe trade is going to go down, which would give the Magic a starting five of Bledsoe, Oladipo, Tobias Harris, Nikola Vucevic and a power forward to be determined.”

A “double-double machine.” You mean like Drew Gooden was for Cleveland, and J.J. Hickson was for Cleveland after that? Wow, that’s impressive. All hail Tristan Thompson and Machine Gun Waiters, shocking that Flip Saunders would turn down such an awesome bounty.
