The 2013 NBA Draft is here.
And, as the future of many NBA hopefuls draws nearer, the NBA front office phones ring with regularity. Many are trying to trade up or trade down in the draft. Some are trying to acquire players.
Two of the latter include the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets, who have been engaged in “advanced talks” for the better part of an hour, to finalize a deal that could send Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Brooklyn to play for new head coach Jason Kidd.
ESPN NBA analyst and famed Boston Celtics fan Bill Simmons is not happy with the idea of the deal.
That rumored Celtics-Nets trade is so bad for Boston that Doc Rivers just quit on the Celtics again.

TNT NBA analyst and former Chicago Bulls sharpshooter Steve Kerr, however, is enamored with it.
Wow, I’m dying to see this Nets/Celtics trade go through just to get a look at Brooklyn’s tax bill. Go Prokhorov!!!!

The basic rundown of the deal’s specifics, as reported by Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski, have Gerald Wallace, Tornike Shengelia, the expiring deal of Kris Humphries and the Net’s first-round picks in 2014, ’16 and ’18 going to the Boston Celtics.
Addditionally, the Nets would send Reggie Evans and Keith Bogans (via a sign-and-trade) as well as another “minimum-level player” as part of the package.
The Nets, in return, would receive Garnett, Pierce and guard Jason Terry.
Wojnarowski projects the answer to Kerr’s curiosity as well.
If Nets complete deal for Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, franchise’s payroll will be $100 million, with a luxury tax bill of nearly $80M.

Whew! That’s a steep tax bill.
Of course, whether this deal can even happen is entirely dependent upon if Garnett will be willing to waive the no-trade clause in his contract.
Kevin Garnett “doesn’t want to be pressured into a quick decision,” source familiar with his thinking tells Y! Sports. Teams want if soon.

Time will tell if we shall soon have the first blockbuster trade of the 2013 NBA off-season.
