Manu Ginobili, San Antonio’s super sixth-man, started his first game of the season Sunday night in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Ginobili’s designated role off the bench for all these years has always been a mystery. He’s a three-time NBA champion, has averaged 15 points, five assist and three rebounds in limited minutes over the course of his career, and will one day be inducted into the Hall of Fame. SH Blog: No progress on Doc to Clippers, but it’s not over; Lakers still think they’ll keep Howard
After the Celtics-Clippers deal stalled last night, today seemed like something of a letdown. Luckily, we’ve got Game 5 of the Finals to occupy our NBA-related attention. If the Spurs lose, they go to Miami down 3-2 for games 6 and 7. Is this really the best format? Jan Hubbard doesn’t think so. Also on Sheridan Hoops, check out our new WNBA Week in Review column for all the goings-on in the world’s top women’s basketball league. Of course, you came here
Heisler: Celtics to Clippers and vice versa? Hey, it happened before
And now, the Clippers and Celtics in the deal that can’t happen, has to happen and/or has already happened before. Just in case, Doc Rivers actually winds up coaching Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and the rest of the Clippers, it will mean one thing…. No, not that the Leprechaun will be the next Celtic departing the TD Garden for Staples Center. And oh yeah, the Finals are still happening, and they’re shaping up

Ginobili, Struggling in Finals, Considering Retirement
SAN ANTONIO — Manu Ginobili is so down on himself, he is actually considering retirement. Not that he is leaning toward retirement, but on Saturday at practice, the day before the Finals against the Miami Heat resume with the series tied 2-2, Ginobili sounded like a player who is ready to move on to the next stage of his life — maybe after one more year in the NBA, maybe sooner. Tweet of the Night: John Wall in new Jack Black movie “Adult Wolf”
After failing to live up to expectations in his first two seasons in the NBA (mostly due to a variety of nagging injuries), Washington Wizards point guard John Wall spent much of the past season proving doubters wrong about how good of a player he can be in the league. Averaging 20.7 points and 7.8 assists after the All-Star break, he has left many wondering about the possibilities of his still-bright future. Since next season is many months away, however, we
