I’ve got the Heat winning Game 7 tonight, then moving on to the NBA Finals and losing to the San Antonio Spurs in 7 games. I’ve had Heat in 7 all along, as have staff columnists Jan Hubbard and Andy Kamenetsky. [Read more…]

Who will Win Game 7? Who Do You Want to Win?
Even if you are not a fan of the Indiana Pacers or the Miami Heat, tonight’s Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals is Must-See TV. Each team has three stars, though the Heat’s Big Three (might we need to change that name after what we’ve seen in this series?) have historically outshined their counterparts on the Pacers (Paul George, Roy Hibbert and David West) in terms of polularity and mass appeal. Tweet of the Night: Brandon Rush
Roy Hibbert went for 24 points and 11 rebounds, and came up with the biggest stop of the game in a showdown at the rim with LeBron James. He was the biggest deterrent to LeBron and the Heat reaching their third consecutive NBA Finals in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Simply put, it was one of the best games of his career. SH Blog: Hibbert fined $75,000 for homophobic comment; Hollins done in Memphis?
All it takes is one guy saying something stupid to take all the spotlight off of a big game. The latest example was last night, when Roy Hibbert made some remarks that he really should not have, almost overshadowing the fact that the Pacers have done what almost nobody expected them to do and pushed their series with the Heat to Game 7. That game is tomorrow night, so get ready everyone. Should the Heat lose, it’ll be another case of
Schayes: Why The Championship Formula Always Works (Until it Doesn’t)
Three years ago after “The Decision” and the free agent signing of Chris Bosh, the Miami Heat were declared the NBA Champions for the next 10 years. Who could beat them? They were loaded. They had filled the requirements of “The Championship Formula” and the future was set. Barring a catastrophic injury (or a cataclysmic Game 7 against the Pacers), the trophy was ready to be engraved! What is this formula that wins championships? Is it something new? Does it really
Bauman: Three Projected First-Round Picks Who Need The Right Situation
When it comes to the NBA draft, sometimes it’s the team, not the player. Take Thomas Robinson, for example. He was a consensus All-American as a junior and led Kansas to the national title game. By virtually all accounts, he was projected as a solid NBA player. But Robinson, a power forward, was drafted by the Sacramento Kings, who already had DeMarcus Cousins, Jason Thompson and Chuck Hayes manning their big positions. So Robinson languished on the bench for half a season before
SH Blog: Kings looking at Bird, Dunleavy, Chris Wallace for GM; Howard favoring Houston?
We’re into June, which means the playoffs are almost over and we’re coming up on the draft and free agency. Fittingly, today’s blog includes a lot of discussion of those two topics. For a look even further ahead, check out Adam Zagoria’s column on why the 2014 draft is even more exciting than this one coming up. The other big topic right now is the coaching and front office shuffle. Some big names have already moved around, including Masai Ujiri to
Five Key Factors for Game 6 of Pacers-Heat
Miami took back momentum in the Eastern Conference Finals with a 90-79 victory over Indiana on Thursday night. LeBron James looked more like Michael Jordan with his 30 point performance, 16 of it in the third quarter. (Should we be comparing them yet? Click for Chris Sheridan’s podcast on that subject.) Now, the series is back in Indianapolis for Game 6. The Pacers’ backs are against the wall. Win or go home. Below are the keys to Game 6 of the Eastern
