What’s happening today?
Manu Ginobili coming back on two year deal
After a mostly dreadful NBA Finals, rumors surfaced saying that Manu Ginobili would spend the summer contemplating retirement.
On the contrary, all it took was three days of free agency for Ginobili to realize that he still has some basketball left in the tank:
Thrilled to announce that as I always hoped, I’m gonna stay with the @spurs for two more years. #gospursgo.

Manu will reportedly be signing for two years and $14 million. While it is still a solid salary, it is a certainly a justified pay cut from the three year, $38.9 million contract he signed in 2010.
Bucks offer Korver sizable deal
Despite overwhelming sentiment from earlier in the week that suggested Kyle Korver would be heading to the Nets, it appears as though the Bucks are utilizing their ample cap space to entice Korver into signing a long term deal in Milwaukee.
Why do Nets now believe they no shot at sharpshooter Kyle Korver? Word is Bucks, for one, offering Korver three-year deal worth $20 million
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 3, 2013
Although nearly $7 million annually is definitely a stretch for the 32-year-old, Larry Drew loved coaching Korver in Atlanta and would welcome a reunion in Wisconsin. Moreover, after sign-and-trading J.J. Redick to the Clippers yesterday, the Bucks have a clear need for perimeter shooters.
Korver finished second in the league with a .457 three point percentage and proved to be a valuable asset for the Hawks, starting in a career high 60 games.
With the Nets unable to offer more than $9.6 million over the next three seasons, Korver’s price tag has proven to be too expensive for Billy King.
Meanwhile, Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Bucks are nearing an agreement with O.J. Mayo:
Milwaukee is nearing a deal to sign free agent guard O.J. Mayo, league sources tell Y Sports.

Toronto not looking to dump Rudy Gay’s contract
After Masai Ujiri quickly found a taker for Andrea Bargnani, many assumed he would continue to overhaul the Raptors’ roster by finding a trade partner for the expensive Rudy Gay.
Last night, the Detroit Pistons offered Ujiri Rodney Stuckey and Charlie Villanueva’s expiring contracts in exchange for the scorer. Ujiri, however, was uninterested in the trade and, according to Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun, will not move Gay just for the sake of clearing cap space.
There is still a possibility that Gay gets traded this summer. However, Ujiri has made it clear that if he were to move Gay, it would be solely for basketball related reasons.
Gay’s inefficient scoring and shooting percentages have been the subject of much criticism from saber-happy fans in recent years.
Memphis overcame the loss of Gay to eventually become a more efficient team in his absence.
While Gay has elite athleticism and has the looks and highlights of an elite player, he has largely underperformed throughout his seven year NBA career.
He is owed $17.9 million in 13-14 and $19.3 in 14-15.
