Hello and welcome to the Evening News.
As free agency continues, we’ll keep you posted every evening.
What’s happening today?
Hawks and Bucks discuss blockbuster swap
ESPN’s Marc Stein reports that the Hawks and Bucks are discussing a potential sign-and-trade that would send Jeff Teague to Milwaukee in exchange for Brandon Jennings.
The Hawks were rumored to be pursuing Monta Ellis over the weekend but have now turned their attention to Milwaukee’s other super scorer.
Jennings is two years younger than Teague and has displayed flashes of superstar potential in his four seasons with the Bucks.
With the point guard market drying up, the Hawks and Bucks headline the list of teams with a question mark at the point guard position.
While Jennings is the flashier name, Teague has actually posted more efficient numbers in recent years. In fact, head-to-head match ups between the two lean in Teague’s favor:
Teague averaged 22 points and 9.5 assists on 54.8 FG% and 46.2 3P% in his four games against the Bucks last season.

Jennings averaged 14.7 points and 7.7 assists on 36.4 FG% and 33.3 3P% in his three games against the Hawks last season.

Cavs, Mavs and Hawks to sit down with Andrew Bynum
With Dwight Howard officially off the board, the market for Andrew Bynum is becoming clearer by the day. Earlier Monday, ESPN reported that the Cavaliers had entered their name into the Bynum sweepstakes. Just hours later, two other teams formally revealed their interest in the big man as well:
Another Andrew Bynum update: ESPN has learned that Bynum has also scheduled face-to-face recruiting meetings in Atlanta & Dallas this week
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 8, 2013
While Bynum has proven to be one of the league’s best centers at full strength, teams have legitimate concerns about his attitude and durability. He missed all of last season with knee problems after the 76ers traded for him.
The Cavaliers can offer him approximately$15 million dollars but will be reluctant to offer anything for more than a year. With an outside shot at LeBron James in free agency next summer, Cleveland wants to preserve as much long term cap space as possible.
Meanwhile, Dallas still has plenty of cap space and is very intrigued by the possibility of matching Bynum up with Dirk Nowitzki. Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban, has been diligently investigating the stability of Bynum’s knees.
The Hawks have about $10 million to spend but are reportedly more interested in spending that money on a point guard than on Bynum.
Bynum will likely be forced to sign a short term deal this summer and attempt to put all durability concerns to rest.
Lakers sign Chris Kaman
ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reports that the Los Angeles Lakers have found their replacement for Dwight Howard:
Kaman will get the Lakers mini midlevel exception, Im told

While Kaman is certainly no Howard on the defensive end, he is still one of the more skilled offensive centers in the league. He has averaged double digits in scoring for the past eight seasons.
Kaman spent the first eight years of his career in Los Angeles as a member of the Clippers. He made the Western Conference All Star team in 2009-2010.
He was then traded to New Orleans in 2011 in the Chris Paul trade.
Kaman certainly sounds excited about his move back to Los Angeles:
It’s true, I am going to be going back to LA and it’s to play for the Lakers! I am excited about this move and can’t wait to play! #Lakers

He probably won’t need bring the bear skin with him after all:
I wonder if I am going to play somewhere with cold or warm weather? Well either way I will be ready if it’s cold! http://t.co/uqKi7Bn8lS
