As World Peace told ESPN Los Angeles’ Dave McMenamin, he does not plan on playing in the NBA next season after being released via the amnesty clause by the Lakers. “I don’t really want to play for anybody,” World Peace said. “I don’t want to go anywhere. I want to go to China, or coach or play Arena Football.”
Should anybody believe Metta?
Any team can still pick up World Peace, as teams have 48 hours to claim his contract. Teams such as the Clippers, Knicks and Nets have been rumored to be interested in claiming him but cannot unless no other team makes a full or partial claim on him.
Who knows? Some team in China could be what Metta desires. We all live in Metta’s wacky world during the NBA season, and I honestly do not hope it ends anytime soon.

Here is the latest news around the league, but also be sure to take a quick look at how Steve Kerr thinks the Brooklyn Nets are title contenders, on paper.
- Andrei Kirilenko, who signed a deal with the Brooklyn Nets for the mini mid-level exception, has enraged many rival NBA executives, per Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski. Nets’ owner Mikhail Prokorov got Kirilenko at a massive discount. Many teams were going to offer AK47 way over what he accepted, but Brooklyn is in the hunt for a title right now and he chose the Nets. Brooklyn continues to win the offseason, which is making everyone in the NBA scared for their title chances.
Y! Sources: Dallas first-round pick Shane Larkin breaks his ankle in summer league practice. http://t.co/5rKH6oAL0c

- Las Vegas Summer League has begun for the other NBA teams. All week, we will see many of the top rookies and sophomores in Las Vegas showing their skill, such as Otto Porter and Anthony Davis. Many prospects are already making noise, such as Atlanta’s Lucas “Bebe” Nogueira. Should be fun watching all the new faces on NBA TV all week.

I hadn’t heard the Devin Harris news.
I would expect Dallas to make a low bid for Peace. Nothing to lose if he retires.
Regarding AK47, don’t forget that Nets were ready to use mini-MLE on Bogdanovic or Korver. That proves that AK opted out of his 10 million with Minny, without expecting to sign with Brooklyn. There were no Big offers for AK, before being approached by Billy King. There was a S&T deal being discussed, but that fell through. AK had already made about 100 million in his career and even gave his salary to charity, during the Lockout. It is true that AK and DWill’s family are friends and there is a photo to prove that they had a get together in early May – but nothing illegal about that.
