Status quo on the Pek front: His side has Wolves’ offer, no teams other than frontcourt-heavy Bucks have that kind of $ to spend, so we wait

@JerryZgoda what r your thoughts on why the Wolves started negotiations with such a high number? Seems like we’re bidding against only us?

@MrJonnyCarlson market value vs. other centers. You play real hard ball and you risk them taking qualifying offer to become UFA next summer

If that is the case, Pekovic’s camp is playing a risky game. In three seasons with the Timberwolves, he has yet to play more than 79-percent of Minnesota’s schedule.
While he has been fortunate not to suffer any serious injuries, he has been plagued with nagging small ones. A serious injury could be right around the corner.
However, if the Wolves GM Flip Saunders can’t convince ($$) him to commit to a long-term deal and he chooses to accept the qualifying offer, he may get lucky.
As the saying goes, “fortune favors the bold.”
