Mo Williams to meet with Grizzlies brass
While the Grizzlies haven’t exactly stolen the headlines of a busy NBA offseason, they have managed to make some quality moves that will pay dividends down the road. By trading for Kosta Koufos and signing Mike Miller, Memphis has bolstered its bench considerably.
And yet, Memphis might still have one more move left in the tank:

Williams is coming off yet another steady season in which he averaged 12.9 points and 6.2 assists for the Jazz. An All Star in 2009, Williams could immediately pair with Jerryd Bayless to give Memphis one of the best reserve backcourts in the NBA.
Williams has started for most of his career but has not received any starters guarantees from any team in free agency. Memphis has approximately $4 million left to spend for the summer.
The Atlanta Hawks strongly considered signing Williams earlier in free agency but eventually opted to match Milwaukee’s offer sheet for Jeff Teague.
The Heat are also reportedly aggressively courting Williams. Miami, however, can only offer him the veteran’s minimum.
Behind Brandon Jennings, Williams is considered the top free agent point guard left on the market.
Hawks’ Nogueira “likely” to play in Spain next season
Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Lucas Nogueira, the 16th overall pick of the 2013 draft, will “most likely” play overseas next season.
Nogueira just turned 20 this month and showed plenty of potential in the Las Vegas summer league. In five games, the true seven footer averaged 6.4 points and 6.0 rebounds.
While the Hawks are high on Nogueira going forward, their recent additions of Pero Antic and Gustavo Ayon give them at least five big men on the roster.
At only 225 pounds, Nogueira still has some considerable work to do in the gym before he can impact games in the NBA. He was visibly outmuscled on several occasions in the summer league.
In Spain, he will receive significant minutes playing for a competitive Euro League team. Meanwhile, the Hawks will assuredly be placing him on a strict gym regimen to get his weight up.
