Tweet of the Day: Dwyane Wade
Tuesday marked the deadline for teams to make use of the amnesty provision and release a player without their salary cap being affected. As explained by our own Chris Bernucca, the Miami Heat have opted to use the provision to release veteran small forward Mike Miller. The move was not without notice. Heat All-Star shooting guard Dwyane Wade shared his sentiments on Twitter. [Read more…]
Amnesty Day: Heat waive Miller, Raptors drop Kleiza
After saying he would not use his amnesty provision, Heat president Pat Riley changed his mind and used the one-time clause on Mike Miller, saving owner Micky Arison millions in luxury tax. Tuesday was the last day for teams to waive a player via the amnesty provision, and Riley chose to let go of Miller and his $6.2 million salary. In a statement, he indicated that he tried to find a taker for Miller in a trade but was unsuccessful. “After many
Mitnick: Top 16 Summer League Breakout Players
After going through an 82-game NBA season, many young NBA players are like caged lions ready to bust out when given the chance. I have just spent the better part of two weeks witnessing it first-hand, watching 15 games in Orlando and more than two dozen so far in Vegas, baby, where the games continue through July 22. The NBA summer leagues are a great opportunity for unproven players to show NBA coaches and decision makers that they deserve a chance
What will Woodson Do With Metta — and Amare, and Bargnani?
Knicks coach Mike Woodson likes to use Carmelo Anthony as his power forward. We learned that much last year. Woodson has
Tweet of the Night: J.R. Smith responds to Frank Isola’s criticism
If there is one person in the media that hits the New York Knicks as hard as Charles Barkley and Stephen A. Smith, it is undoubtedly the outspoken Frank Isola of the New York Daily News. You could probably make the case that there is no one more unfiltered when it comes to discussing anything the Knicks are doing – he even makes fun of other Knicks writers like Marc Berman of the New York Post, quite frequently at that. So when
Mighty Moke’s Top 25 Remaining Free Agents — July 16 Update
Andrei Kirilenko, AK-47 The Brooklyn Nets went out and got themselves an AK-47, and the New York Knicks responded by calling for World Peace. Could there possibly have been any better storyline on Day 15 of NBA Free Agency? Perhaps, but this was pretty good. As we mentioned in our July 14 update, World Peace cleared amnesty waivers at 5:00pm ET on Sunday and was a free agent for all of about 24 hours before it was announced that he
SH Blog: J.R. Smith out for 3-4 months after patellar tendon surgery, Jennings to Detroit being discussed
Ever since reports surfaced that Metta World Peace would be amnestied by the Los Angeles Lakers, his name has been tied to one team that has shown the greatest interest in attaining the forward: the New York Knicks. Although World Peace expressed interest in the idea of playing overseas in China for a while, he received an offer worth staying for from the Knicks and has agreed to join them on Monday. ESPN has details: [Read more…]
