There’s no such thing with Kobe Bryant, as the new Lenovo smartphone presentation stated during Bryant’s tour of China.
Bryant’s tour is covered by Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times, who offers insight about the message the black mamba was spreading. A 24-minute video of Kobe’s speech and tour can be seen below.
Kobe may no longer be the best basketball player on planet earth, but he is still treated as such when he makes his annual trip overseas. Bryant is proving whether he is on or off the court, he still has plenty to offer the game. A trait of his that is often overlooked by his critics.
A few quotes according to Bryant:
On his torn Achilles:
“My tendon feels really, really good,” said Bryant at Manila’s Newport Performing Arts Theater at the2013 Lenovo Manila Tour. “I was really lucky.”
“As soon as I did it, I said, ‘I have to make these free throws,'” remembered Bryant, who was able to convert a pair to help the Lakers beat the Golden State Warriors, despite the injury.
On his rehab:
“The trainers go with me everywhere,” said Bryant. “Family vacations, business trips — they’re there all the time.”
On leadership:
“Most of the time leaders have to make unpopular decisions,” he said. “I think a lot of leaders fail because they don’t have the bravery to touch that nerve or to strike that chord. For me, throughout my years, I haven’t had that fear. It rubs some people the wrong way but at the end of the day you want to get results. That’s what it’s all about.”
