In a time constantly focused on the new, this age-old axiom remains true: it’s not what you do when people are watching, it’s what you do when you’re alone.
While LeBron James is arranging police escorts to Jay-Z concerts and sneaking out of jury duty, Roy Hibbert, quietly, is spending another summer training with Tim Duncan down south in San Antonio. More from Yahoo! Sports Kelly Dwyer:
Tim Duncan, the future Basketball Hall of Famer that led the San Antonio Spurs to within a game of theNBA title last June, is currently working out with Roy Hibbert, the center that led his Indiana Pacers to within a game of those NBA Finals just a few weeks before. Hibbert is a must-follow on Twitter for various reasons, but for the bulk of the offseason months he is notoriously prolific with his workout updates, often posting Vines or pictures to let Pacer fans know that he and fellow Pacer center Ian Mahinmi (pictured below) are not taking his time off lightly.
And as Dwyer mentions, Hibbert is a must follow on Twitter for a variety of reasons. Here are just a few of his tweets on the subject at hand:
Wanna thank the @spurs for letting me use their facility n workout with their players. Great big man workout today. Learned a lot.

If hearing about Hibbert’s dedication to his offseason workouts isn’t enough to believe the hype, he was kind enough to drop off this video today via Twitter to prove it, even if it may be more of a Google Glasses demonstration.
The Pacers have already done what we have asked of them and improved the bench this offseason. They made the necessary additions to their bench, signing Chris Copeland, Loius Scola and CJ Watson to add the depth they brutally lacked last year.
They brought back Larry Bird to run the front office.
Savvy.
And let’s also not forget to add in the return of a healthy Danny Granger.
But still, and most importantly, if the Pacers main core from last season — the starting lineup that pushed the Miami Heat to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals — can continue to improve internally, there is no telling how good this team can be.
All that’s left to do is lock up budding superstar Paul George to a long-term extension — widely believed to just be a matter of time — and roll into next season with championship expectations.
It’s a good time to be a Pacers fan.
