Whenever the NBA and the Players Association negotiate a collective bargaining agreement, the media – including Sheridan Hoops – goes to great lengths to understand and explain its rules, exceptions and nuances. But since the first wave of players began making the jump from high school to the NBA in the mid-1990s, the premise of every new CBA could be summed up in six words: To save the owners from themselves. Restraint never has been the collective strength of NBA owners. In

Tweet of the Night: Steak Your Claim
The best steak in the world is served at a place called the Five O’Clock club on the near West Side in Milwaukee. The place is in Jeffrey Dahmer’s old neighborhood, they take your order at the bar, then they seat you, and you feast like a Roman on the perfect concoction of blackened sizzle on the outside and tender perfection on the inside (Yes, I know, I also just described Beyonce). But the picture to your left is from my

Tweet of the Day: Many share condolences for Roger Miller
Among his many interests, Miller was very involved in auto racing. Tragedy struck the Utah Jazz family Sunday. Roger Miller, son of the late Jazz owner Larry H. Miller, died at the age of 45 Sunday. He was the second of five children to Larry, who died as recently as 2009, and Gail. He is survived by his wife Cheri Light Miller, their nine children (five daughters, four sons) and three grandchildren. The details of his death have not been made

Tweet of the Night: Nick Young
Just because there has been a dry spell of inactivity as far as news is concerned, that does not mean NBA players haven’t been finding ways to stay active. Clippers forward Matt Barnes, in conjunction with Snoop Dogg (Lion?), hosted his annual Athletes vs. Cancer flag football game on Sunday. Barnes started the foundation in 2007 after his mother passed away just 26 days after being diagnosed with cancer. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Day: Stephon Marbury vs. the media
Stephon Marbury clearly had some thoughts to let out, and he did just that with a pair of tweets directed at media members who were seemingly critical of the former NBA player. Marbury’s first response to media came after Frank Isola of the New York Daily News tweeted the following. @FisolaNYDN yeah and I had to stop some cats from turning your lights out. — I AM PEACE STAR (@StarburyMarbury) August 18, 2013 The tweet was over five months ago but clearly Marbury recently took
