In a rather humdrum day in the NBA, here’s what’s making news: Lamar Odom was officially charged with DUI, the Warriors tweeted that Andrew Bogut is finally 100% healthy, and Lithuanian sensation Jonas Valanciunas shining in Eurobasket ’13 games. (We have a fresh update on Eurobasket ’13 from international editor A.J. Mitnick, who reports on a bunch of Eurostash players and Euroleague stars, along with who is sitting pretty (Italy, France) and who is not (Croatia, Greece — although they did defeat Spain to keep their hopes alive.)
Odom charged with DUI
TMZ is reporting that former Clipper (and Kardashian) Lamar Odom has been charged with one count of driving under the influence. The former Sixth Man of the Year was arrested in the wee hours of the morning on August 30th for driving “too slow” according to police.
After being pulled over, Odom then failed his field sobriety tests, leading him to be handcuffed and taken to the big house.
Once in jail, Lamar refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test. He would later find out that because of this decision, his driver’s license would been suspended for one year.
Odom’s arraignment has been scheduled for September 27th, and if convicted, he will have to attend alcohol education courses, along with being put on probation.

Bogut ready to roll
According to a tweet from the Golden State Warriors, starting center Andrew Bogut is now 100% healthy. The seven-foot Aussie has battled through injuries his whole NBA career, including a lingering ankle problem that caused him to miss a whopping 104 games in his past 2 seasons.
The former No. 1 overall pick, a defensive juggernaut, is one of the few “true centers” left in the NBA.
His offensive abilities are somewhat limited and he is a putrid free-throw shooter, but when actually on the court, the former Milwaukee Buck has been a very effective player. He possesses great shot-blocking abilities and is a great on-the-ball defender. Bogut can definitely be a difference maker, and the Warriors are hoping he can put it all together this season. The big man spent his first seven seasons with the Bucks before being traded to the Warriors for volume shooter Monta Ellis in 2012.
Valanciunas proving his worth
Second year big man Jonas Valanciunas is has been shining this offseason. It all started during the summer league, where JV was named MVP after averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds.
He then continued his dominance today EuroBasket in an 86-67 victory over Belgium by scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 boards in just 13 minutes of action. He is now shooting a ridiculous 73% from the field during the tournament.
It is said that the Raptors are planning to run their offense around the seven-foot Lithuanian this coming season. For a Big V surprise, click here for a piece from our early archives.
