Tight Ends for Week 4
The top tight ends, Jordan Cameron/$10795/CLE, Jason Witten/$9587/DAL, Jimmy Graham/$15741/NOS are theoretically overpriced, but it might be worthwhile paying a safety premium at the position and looking for saving elsewhere. Graham is the closest thing to an “uncoverable” receiver in the NFL, as his combination of speed, size and hands is impossible to match-up against except by means of a well-executed double team.
It’s a little too early to deploy Rob Gronkowski/$10876/NEP, as he will likely be limited in his snaps if he plays. Julius Thomas/$11005/DEN is the fourth option for the Broncos, but will get a decent share of targets die to pass attempt volume. Among the wounded, Heath Miller/$6926/PIT is fair value and getting close to full strength; Redskins Jordan Reed/$4765/WAS and Fred Davis/$2096/WAS might both be out, as might Travis Kelce/$2000/KCC and Anthony Fasano/$2456/KCC of the Chiefs.
Among the cheap options, Scott Chandler/$5539/BUF, had a breakout game of sorts against the Jets and Rob Housler/$2428/ARZ is returning to action against Tampa Bay. Zach Ertz/$2368/PHI will get opportunities as long as Brent Celek/$3814/PHI isn’t fully healthy. Kellen Winslow/$3331/NYJ and Sean McGrath/$2714/KCC are super cheap plays that are worth a look if you decide against using an established tight end.
Defenses for Week 4
The Seahawks/$5104 play in the road and have a stiff test in the form of a balanced attack of the Houston Texans. I still favor Seattle to contain Houston’s weapons, especially as Andre Johnson/HOU won’t be at full strength.
The Bengals/$6471 might have the most underrated defense at this point in the season. They will put Brian Hoyer/CLE to the test and create turnovers. The Chiefs/$4474 are a solid value play against the inept and turnover happy Giants. I’m not a believer in the efficacy of the Ravens offense, especially on the road, so the Buffalo/$2312/defense could be the bargain play of the day.
I’ve given you a good start towards building all-conquering lineups. All that remains is to put your fantasy football skills to the test and register for the qualifiers as often as you can. Good luck to all!
