I just saw this on YouTube. My first preseason game as a @nba player n this happens. http://t.co/jczAL10j4o
— Roy Hibbert (@Hoya2aPacer) October 1, 2013
In a preseason matchup with the New Orleans Hornets, Hibbert—being guarded by veteran big man Melvin Ely—caught the ball near the top of the key.
Ely, subsequently, caught an elbow to the jaw.
As angry as Ely looked to have been, it is probably best that he was held back. He gave up nearly 27 pounds to the rookie center.
Fortunately, Hibbert has grown into his role as a star center playing in the post. He does not often operate out of the triple-threat stance at the top of the key anymore.
