Tight Ends for Week 6
Among the elite tight-end, Jason Witten/DAL offers the best combination of value and safety. I love watching Jimmy Graham/NOS play, but the Patriots defense has proven itself stingy in the red zone and so there isn’t a lot of upside for Graham at his elevated salary. Jermichael Finley/$6552/GBP looks fully recovered and may surprise on the upside. Greg Olsen/CAR (foot injury) looks like he will play, but will be limited in his effectiveness.
There are a number of cheap tight-end plays that have very limited downside and could surprise on the upside. Sorting through the “mess” isn’t easy though. The absence of Owen Daniels/$5303/HOU propels understudy Garret Graham/$6898/HOU into playable territory. Zach Miller/$2789/SEA is targeted almost exclusively inside the red-zone, so a touchdown catch or two makes or breaks him. Jordan Reed/$5247/WAS is returning from injury and could be an oft used secondary target by the Redskins. In the possible absence of WR Calvin Johnson/DET, Brandon Pettigrew/$4394/DET will be asked to do more. The Rams will probably have to throw the ball all day, which should give Jared Cook/$4596/STL plenty of targets.
Zach Ertz/$2520/PHI, Kyle Rudolph/$3400/MIN, Jeff Cumberland/$2740/NYJ and Tyler Eifert/$4666/CIN are also worth considering.
Defenses for Week 6
Whenever the Seahawks/$6952 are at home, they become a popular defense plays regardless of the price. Coming off two road games during which their defense performed below expectations, their price has slid into affordable territory. Projections for them against the QB Ryan Fitzpatrick/TEN-led Titans vary greatly. I regard them as a solid, but not mouth-watering pick.
The Jets/$4800 are coming off an impressive performance on the against the Falcons in Atlanta and look to shut down the sputtering Steelers. They are a favorite to force a few turnovers and shut down the Pittsburgh offense, provided they can deal with deep threats WR Emmanuel Sanders/$5891/PIT and WR Antonio Brown/$11443/PIT.
The Bengals/$6579 seek to take advantage of an inexperienced QB now thrust into a starting role for Buffalo, while the unsung Bills defense/$2167 is one of the better bargain plays in the DST roster slot.
I’ve given you a good start towards building all-conquering lineups. All that remains is to put your fantasy football skills to the test and register for the qualifiers as often as you can. Good luck to all!
