Running Backs for Week 7
Top Play: Jamaal Charles/$14733/KCC.When it comes to running backs, it is worth investing in those few who are used frequently in both the run and pass. Charles sits at the top of that particular pyramid and there are statements coming out of the Chiefs camps that indicate an increase to his already sky-high workload. Charles has scored at least one touchdown in every game this season and with the Texans offense sporting a brand-new quarterback, time of possession should be decidedly in the Chiefs favor.
Other plays: Tampa Bay will continue with a balanced attack as QB Mike Glennon/TBB grows accustomed to life as a starting quarterback in the NFL. That will mean lots of Doug Martin/$9778/TBB in the running and the passing game against the disappointing Falcons defense. Eddie Lacy/9772/GBP will get plenty of touches with Packers receivers WR Randall Cobb/GBP and WR James Jones/GBP sidelined. Stevan Ridley/$7965/NEP has been rehabilitated in the eyes of the Patriots; he could surprise on the upside if New England calls his number inside the 10-yard line. The rejuvenated Brandon Jacobs/$7427/NYG will be the feature back as the Giants look for their first win versus the Vikings.
WR DeSean Jackson/PHI has been scoring touchdowns for the Eagles recently, so it may be LeSean McCoy’s/$14478/PHI turn if the Cowboys focus on taking away the Eagles top receiver. No running back has bigger big-game potential. I would stay away from Arian Foster/$11217/HOU, as blowout conditions in the Texans-Chiefs game could mean an early shelving of Houston’s star running back. Frank Gore/$10406/SFN, Matt Forte/$12888/CHI and Adrian Peterson/$15189/MIN are all fair to good value this week.
Wide Receivers for Week 7
Top play: Keenan Allen/$8415/SDC. Allen scored the only touchdown of the Colts-Chargers affair last week. The rookie receiver has become the top target for QB Philip Rivers/SDC since becoming a starter in place of the injured Malcom Floyd/SDC. I think he is the real deal and I’m ready to invest in him until his price reaches elite level.
Other plays: while Allen is the best value for money, there are a number of elite wide receivers worth using this week. Top of the list is Dez Bryant/$14427/DAL (I believe in second chances). Bryant was very quiet against the Redskins, but will have the opportunity to work against a porous Eagles defense that was victimized by Vincent Jackson/$11328/TBB last week. Jackson and Brandon Marshall/$13261/CHI are coming off spectacular games and have favorable match ups this week. Pairing Marshall with teammate Alshon Jeffery/$8393/CHI reduces your risk a touch.
Josh Gordon/$10839/CLE is one of the most difficult receivers to cover and his numbers would be even better if he had a better passer throwing him the ball. Lack of motivation won’t be a problem for Reggie Wayne/$10978/IND, as he faces his former quarterback Peyton Manning/DEN. I suspect Wayne will move in relative freedom as the Broncos concentrate on deep threat T.Y. Hilton/$9025/IND. Jordy Nelson/$11368/GBP is a risky play, as he will be the focus of the Packers passing attack and the jury is still out on whether he can handle the job.
If you need to fill in with cheaper receivers, Harry Douglas/$6288/ATL, Vincent Brown/$5780/SDC, Leonard Hankerson/$4413/WAS, and Jarrett Boykin/$5135/GBP are worthy of consideration.
