Brown, Lee and Marshall waived by Wizards
Posted at 08:40 PM ET
The Washington Wizards announced Monday they have waived guards Shannon Brown, Malcolm Lee and Kendall Marshall. The three players were acquired with Marcin Gortat in last week’s trade with the Phoenix Suns. The Wizards received center Gortat and the three players in exchange for injured center Emeka Okafor and a protected first-round draft pick in 2014. Marshall, Brown and Lee were included in the trade so that it would work financially under NBA rules. The next question is: where are these players heading next? Well, the word is Brown may be heading back to the Los Angeles Lakers. The current free agent was in LA from 2009-2011 and averaged about eight points per game in his stretch there. All three players have 48 hours from being waived to be claimed by another team before becoming unrestricted free agents.
Granger out three weeks with calf injury
Posted at 11:38 AM ET
Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger will miss approximately three weeks as he rehabilitates a strained left calf injury, the team announced Monday. Granger strained the calf Oct. 16, his first start of the preseason, while jumping against the Dallas Mavericks. Granger described the calf as feeling “tight,” although he initially believed he could continue playing. Before the Pacers played in Chicago on Oct. 18, Granger had an MRI. The results were negative. Granger, however, aggravated the injury in Chicago. The length of time is a precautionary measure as the team wants to ensure he’s physically ready to play in light of missing all but five games last season due to his knee injury.
Trivia Answer: Boston was O’Neal’s sixth team after Orlando, the LA Lakers, Miami, Phoenix and Cleveland.
