Carmelo Anthony responded to Charles Barkley’s harsh words and said he will recruit free agents to New York when the time comes, writes Adam Zagoria of Sheridan Hoops and SNY.tv. Barkley, an NBA TNT analyst, had criticized Anthony on Monday for expressing his desire to become a free agent after this season. “He owns the city, he should be trying to get guys to come here,” said Barkley. Anthony told Ian Begley of ESPN he will aid his team in landing playings. “When the time comes we’ll be working on that. I have a big black book. I have a big rolodex.”
Celtics suspend Sullinger one game
Posted at 12:47 PM ET
The Boston Celtics announced today they have suspended forward Jared Sullinger one game for his role in an incident that occurred on August 31, 2013. On that date, he was allegedly involved and later charged in a domestic violence case against his girlfriend, Deann Smith. The charges have since been dismissed after she refused to testify against him in court. The suspension will be served during the team’s game at the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 30. “Jared’s case was dismissed yesterday in Waltham District Court,” said Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge. “While we are satisfied that this was the correct ruling, we are suspending Jared for one game because he failed to meet the high expectations we have for all Celtics employees.”
NBA rumors and news will be posted as they happen throughout the day.
Trivia Answer: The Heat were formed in 1988 as an expansion franchise.
