Stuart Scott, a face that many remember from the NBA on ESPN, has been away from the game for the past year. The long-time sports anchor has been battling cancer.
Scott announced on Twitter on Saturday that he is going to be back on the network. Although he is anchoring SportsCenter and covering football, it may only be a matter of time until he’s back with the NBA as well.
IM BAAACK!! After recent surgery, my fight vs C continues but I’m back 2work Monday Hosting MNCD & SC from Tampa. THANK ALL OF U 4 prayers

Scott first announced he had cancer in 2007. After six months of chemotherapy, he was cancer free until January, when he revealed the following on Twitter:
“Blessed by prayers..I’m back in the Fight. C reared its head again. Chemo evry 2 wks but I’ll still work, still work out..still #LIVESTRONG”
Scott has been a fighter through the entire process, still attending TV tapings when his chemotherapy schedule allowed it. He said the reason he has been fighting the disease so hard is for his daughters, Taelor, 17, and Sydni, 13.
The reality of life always overpowers the diversion of sports. Scott found motivation in his work, and it helps get him through the dark days.
Whether or not you’re a fan of his broadcasting, you can’t help but be a fan of his character.
In a statement issued through ESPN, Scott said:
“There are 28 million cancer survivors. You know what that means? We’ve got a strong army!! Once again, I join the fight and like 3 years ago, I plan to beat this thing. Can’t tell you you how much I appreciate everyone’s well wishes and support. I’ll be back at work soon … probably sooner than you think. I am blessed to have the invaluable support of a great team of doctors, my loving family, genuine friends and my ESPN family.”
It’s great to have you back, Stuart! Even if it’s only with the NFL now. Keep fighting.
