Tuesday, November 12 was a slow night in the NBA. Only four games were held, and every single one was decided by double-digit margins. Nevertheless, there were noteworthy feats.
Here’s everything that you need to know about what transpired.
1. In a 2013 NBA playoffs rematch, the Miami Heat defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 118-95 to move to 5-3. LeBron James scored 33 points, while the Bucks starting lineup accumulated 35 collectively.
2. Michael Beasley scored 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field in 20 minutes of play. It was the first time that Beasley had played at least 10 minutes in a game since re-joining the Heat this offseason.
3. Dirk Nowitzki and Monta Ellis both scored 19 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 105-95 victory over the Washington Wizards. In the loss, Wizards small forward Trevor Ariza scored 27 points. He now has two games with at least 25 points in 2013-14 after doing it twice during the entire 2012-13 season.
4. Stephen Curry had 25 points, Andre Iguodala dished out 11 assists and veteran center Jermaine O’Neal finished with 17 points as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Detroit Pistons 113-95. The 35-year-old and injury-plagued O’Neal has now scored in double-figures in six of the past 10 games that he’s seen at least 20 minutes of game action.
5. The Los Angeles Lakers earned a necessary victory with a 116-95 drubbing of the New Orleans Pelicans. Jordan Hill dropped 21 points and 11 rebounds, Steve Blake had 10 assists, Nick Young scored 17 and Xavier Henry came up with 15 against his former team.
Bonus Fact: The top four prospects in the 2014 NBA draft were in action. The freshmen starred on offense, with Andrew Wiggins of the Kansas Jayhawks scoring 22 points, and both Jabari Parker of Duke and Julius Randle of Kentucky finishing with 27. Sophomore point guard Marcus Smart of Oklahoma State had 14 points and an obscene nine steals.
The future is bright.
