Arron Afflalo/ORL was a questionable start against the Hawks, but he played and played well. Victor Oladipo/ORL has settled into the sixth man role and his contribution helped Orlando beat Atlanta. In Cleveland, Stephen Curry/GSW dueled Kyrie Irving/CLE and the Warriors won in overtime. The Thunder got enough production out of the supporting cast to support Kevin Durant’s/OKC brilliance and easily handle the Rockets. Despite the best efforts of DeMarcus Cousins/SAC and Isaiah Thomas/SAC, the Spurs defended their home court with solid games from their veteran trio. In the nightcap, the Sixers confirmed that the Lakers are in deep trouble without Pau Gasol/LAL et al by beating them 111-104. Here is today’s Fantasy Spin.
Yesterday in the NBA
Top Performers:
Kevin Durant/OKC. Who can stop him? 11 of 17 FGA, 8 of 9 FTA, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 2 TO, 33 points.
Stephen Curry/GSW. He and Chris Paul/LAC remain 1A and 1B among point guards.
DeMarcus Cousins/SAC. There are few players that are as important to their team.
Thaddeus Young/PHI. One of my recommendations.
Nikola Vucevic/ORL. Another one of my recommendations.
Sleepers:
Jeremy Lamb/OKC. The Thunder will need someone to help Durant out and Lamb is a decent candidate. 8 of 10 FGA, 3 of 3 FTA, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 3 TO, 22 points.
Andre Iguodala/GSW. This sleeper finally woke up.
Boris Diaw/SAS.
Draymond Green/GSW.
Shawne Williams/LAL.
Biggest Busts:
James Harden/HOU. The Rockets were a collective disaster last night, Harden being the chief architect. 2 of 9 FGA, 4 of 5 FTA, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, 2 TO, 8 points.
Dwight Howard/HOU.
Xavier Henry/LAL.
Jeremy Lin/HOU.
Monday at DraftStreet
The action at DraftStreet gets underway at 7:30 pm. The largest field contest of the day is the $2/$4,000 GPP. The most lucrative contest is the $55/$8,000 GPP with room for 160 entries. Double up GPP buy ins range from $2 to $215.
Monday in the NBA
Washington Wizards at Detroit Pistons (7:30 pm EST); over/under 202.5; Pistons -3 . INJURIES: WAS: Kevin Seraphin (Q) ; DET: Rodney Stuckey (Q) .
In light of how bad the Pistons have played the last two games, the betting line is perplexing. The health issues of Rodney Stuckey/DET have hurt the Pistons because he provides scarce outside shooting prowess for them. The Wizards are in better form and also have the talent edge over the Pistons. That should negate home court advantage and then some.
Dallas Mavericks at Minnesota Timberwolves (8:00 pm EST); over/under 212; Wolves -4.5 . INJURIES: DAL: Devin Harris (OUT) ; MIN: Chase Budinger (Q) .
Portland Trail Blazers at New Orleans Pelicans (8:00 pm EST); over/under ; . INJURIES: POR: none ; NOP: Eric Gordon (Q) .
The Blazers were not able to defeat the LeBron-less Heat team at home and might have trouble on the road against the improving Pelicans. Tyreke Evans/NOP has been impressive of late and Anthony Davis/NOP is coming around after an underwhelming return from injury. Jrue Holiday/MIA has flashes of brilliance. I am investing in Damian Lillard/POR because I think Portland will bring their A game. If Portland loses, it could be a sign that their “Cinderella” run is nearing its end.
Chicago Bulls at Memphis Grizzlies (8:00 pm EST); over/under ; . INJURIES: CHI: Luol Deng(Q), Jimmy Butler (Q) ; MEM: Marc Gasol (OUT).
Luol Deng/CHI provides athleticism that the Bulls desperately need. Both teams focus on defense, so expect a low scoring game. D.J. Augustin/CHI remains a tremendous value.
Miami Heat at Denver Nuggets (9:00 pm EST); over/under ; . INJURIES: MIA: LeBron James (Q), Chris Andersen (Q); DEN: Darrell Arthur (Q), JaVale McGee (OUT).
The LeBron health watch will be a must follow leading up to game time. Because you will have to submit your DraftStreet roster 90 minutes before this game kicks off, there will be plenty of risk involved with all of the Heat players. If James sits, everyone else’s value gets a boost, especially Michael Beasley/MIA.
Charlotte Bobcats at Utah Jazz (9:00 pm EST); over/under 187.5; Jazz -2.5. INJURIES: CHA: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (OUT) ; UTA: none .
Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Clippers (10:30 pm EST); over/under 212.5; Clippers -8 . INJURIES: PHO: none ; LAC: J.J. Redick (OUT) .
Blake Griffin/LAC has a very favorable matchup tonight and is a solid lineup anchor. Eric Bledsoe/PHO will likely defend Chris Paul/LAC, which makes the Clippers’ point guard riskier than usual.
My Lineup
The following is my recommended lineup, subject to change, for the $2/$4,000 GPP at DraftStreet: ($99,969 spent of $100,000 max):
Stars Worth Starting: Blake Griffin/LAC, Damian Lillard/POR, DeAndre Jordan/LAC.
Bargain Plays: Martell Webster/WAS, Vince Carter/DAL, D.J. Augustin/CHI
Speculative Plays: Michael Beasley/MIA, Kemba Walker/CHA
Estimated DraftStreet Points: 215 (+- 50)
