We’ve got a monster matchup tonight with the Thunder taking on the Spurs. Gregg Popovich rested his stars a couple days ago, presumably with this matchup in mind, so we’ll see if that ploy pays off. Of course, despite missing some veterans, the Spurs overcame the Warriors in a close one Thursday night. It’s been a bit of a disappointing season for the Warriors, though they’re certainly not out of the hunt by any means. It’s just another reminder that the NBA

Tweet of the Day: Players React to Lopez Injury News
Brook Lopez is the linchpin of the Brooklyn Nets. On offense, on defense, even in the locker room and the huddles, the big man plays a vital role on the team. Saturday morning, it was announced the center would miss the remainder of the season after suffering a broken foot in Friday’s overtime loss in Philadelphia against the Sixers. NBA source tells me Brook Lopez of the Nets is done for the year. Broken foot. East continues to get worse. #celticstalk — Gary Tanguay
May: What Will Become of Rajon Rondo?
What is Rajon Rondo supposed to do? If he were willfully shutting out his teammates, that would be one thing. (He has been known to do that in the past). If he was willfully tuning out his coach, that would be another thing. (He has been known to do that in the past as well). If he was being a locker-room cancer, that would be one more thing. (Hold that unhappy thought!) He has been none of these in 2013 and yet there it

I thought the Jazz would stay close but they were blown out by the Hawks. The Bobcats surprised the Pistons, the injury riddled Lakers defeated the visiting Timberwolves on the strength of Pau Gasol/LAL superb performance,
Tweet of the Night: Reggie Evans reacts to LeBron James’ dunk over Ben McLemore
Some things don’t need much of an explanation, and this is one of those times. In the first quarter against the Sacramento Kings, LeBron James saw an open lane and drove hard towards the basket. Hoping to draw a charge, rookie Ben McLemore sacrificed his body and positioned himself just outside of the restricted area. This is the result of his decision: [Read more…]
SH Blog: Did Thaddeus Young Request Trade; Kobe Calls Doubters ‘Idiots’; Asik Deal Fell Apart At High Level
Despite the Houston Rockets retracting their self-imposed December 19th deadline to trade disgruntled center Omer Asik — a trade he was reportedly being dangled in — Thaddeus Young has sent in a formal request to Philadelphia 76ers GM Sam Hinkie to be traded. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Day: Nate Robinson in new “Uncle Drew” commercial
If you’ve ever played basketball in a recreational setting, whether at the YMCA or the local city park outdoor court, you have probably experienced the inexplicable, near magical quality that old men often display when running the court. Some old guys have that unstoppable post game, anchored by an unfailing hook shot. Some have that mid-range jumper that never misses. Still, others school young guys in the lost skill of abusing the backboard with that timeless bank shot. In continuing his part
