On the first night of NBA action in 2014, the Philadelphia 76ers continued to surprise as they handed the Nuggets a loss in Denver. Evan Turner/PHI, Thaddeus Young/PHI, Spencer Hawes/PHI and rookie of the year frontrunner Michael Carter-Williams/PHI have formed an effective core, while James Anderson/PHI and Lavoy Allen/PHI have contributed with efficient minutes off the bench. The Sixers roll into Sacramento tonight and have to overcome a home and fatigue disadvantage against dynamic duo DeMarcus Cousins/SAC and Isaiah Thomas/SAC. Here is today’s Fantasy Spin.

Ricky Rubio/MIN. Rubio had an omnivorous game and made up for a sub-par Kevin Love/MIN, leading the Wolves to a high scoring win against the Pelicans. 4 of 6 FGA, 5 of 6 FTA, 8 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks, 3 TO, 14 points.
Kyle Lowry/TOR. Since the Raptors-Kings trade he has had room to spread his wings and now looks like a solid playoff caliber point guard.
Blake Griffin/LAC. Bounced back.
Chris Paul/LAC.
Evan Turner/PHI. He has recovered from a recent slump and is a key part of a healthy Sixers bunch that are no longer the doormats of the league.
Sleepers:
Trevor Booker/WAS. 5 of 9 FGA, 19 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block, 1 TO, 10 points.
Darren Collison/LAC. Solid backup point guard.
Jared Dudley/LAC.
Disappointments:
Kevin Love/MIN. He derailed my chances last night, as I did not think that Anthony Davis/NOP would be assigned to him instead of to Nikola Pekovic/MIN. 7 of 19 FGA, 6 of 8 FTA, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 2 TO, 21 points.

Melo Set to Play Against Spurs
Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers (7:00 pm EST); over/under 197; Cavs -2 . INJURIES: ORL: Nikola Vucevic (Q) ; CLE: Kyrie Irving (Q).
Due to the uncertain status of Kyrie Irving/CLE, other Cleveland guards such as Jarrett Jack/CLE could be in line for extra minutes. The opening betting line seems to indicate that Irving will play.
Golden State Warriors at Miami Heat (7:30 pm EST); over/under 203.5 ; Heat -4.5. INJURIES: GSW: ; MIA: Dwayne Wade (Q), Chris Andersen (Q) .
Not the best circumstances for a Stephen Curry/GSW bounce back: he gets my “avoid” label. Dwayne Wade/MIA is officially questionable but I think he will rest. LeBron James/MIA, despite injury concerns, is a good lineup anchor.
Boston Celtics at Chicago Bulls (8:00 pm EST); over/under 182.5 ; Bulls -4. INJURIES: BOS: Jared Sulinger (P), Rajon Rondo (OUT) ; CHI: Derrick Rose (OUT).
Kelly Olynyk/BOS is coming off a big game, and I am curious to see if he is given more minutes than usual. I would still avoid him, based on an unfavorable matchup against the Bulls. Aside from Derrick Rose/CHI, of course, the Bulls are near full health and should beat the Celtics.
Brooklyn Nets at Oklahoma City Thunder (8:00 pm EST); over/under 204.5; Thunder -12. INJURIES: BKN: Andray Blatche (OUT), Brook Lopez (OUT) ; OKC: Russell Westbrook (OUT) .
As a complement to Kevin Durant/OKC, Jeremy Lamb/OKC is excellent value tonight against the Nets. Brooklyn will need to get points from a variety of sources and Paul Pierce/BKN is a cheap value play.
New York Knicks at San Antonio Spurs (8:30 pm EST); over/under 200 ; Spurs -11. INJURIES: NYK: Carmelo Anthony (P), Raymond Felton (OUT), Pablo Prigioni (OUT) ; SAS: none .
If Carmelo Anthony/NYK returns and plays without restrictions, the Knicks should beat the point spread. Among the Spurs, Manu Ginobili/SAS is the best value.
Milwaukee Bucks at Utah Jazz (9:00 pm EST); over/under 191.5; Jazz -5.5. INJURIES: MIL: John Henson (OUT), Zaza Pachulia (OUT) ; UTA: none.
Brandon Knight/MIL is coming off a great game, but is also becoming very expensive. I would recommend him for double-up leagues,. but the expected regression would make him a liability for standard payout leagues. I don’t see the Bucks winning with John Henson/MIL out. For the Jazz, Trey Burke/UTA, Derrick Favors/UTA and Gordon Hayward/UTA are a touch over fair value.
Memphis Grizzlies at Phoenix Suns (9:00 pm EST); over/under 197; Suns -5.5. INJURIES: MEM: Marc Gasol ( OUT); PHO: Emeka Okafor (OUT) .
Based on recent form, Goran Dragic/PHO is solid value.
Charlotte Bobcats* at Portland Trail Blazers (10:00 pm EST); over/under 200.5; Blazers -11. INJURIES: CHA: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (OUT) ; POR: none.
Portland survived their road trip without too much damage and face Charlotte with the home and fatigue factor edge. LaMarcus Aldridge/POR is a solid play, excepting possible blowout conditions.
Philadelphia 76ers* at Sacramento Kings (10:00 pm EST); over/under 218.5; Kings -8 . INJURIES: PHI:
none; SAC: Carl Landry (OUT) .
This game should be a focus for DraftStreet players tonight. It is likely to be the highest scoring game of the night. Conditions are ripe for DeMarcus Cousins/SAC to have a big game, and he is the centerpiece of my lineups today. Evan Turner/PHI and Michael Carter-Williams/PHI are decent plays as well, with the caveat that fatigue may be a factor.
