- Mark Jackson and David Lee talked about the greatness of Stephen Curry, from Monte Poole of CSN Bay Area: “He took off, when you look at the history of this league (and) where your reputation is made, it’s made in the playoffs,” Warriors coach Mark Jackson said last week. “When there is a minimum amount of games and everybody is watching and that’s when he played his best basketball. “All of a sudden, people are aware and alert of just how good he is. Its snowballed to start the season, and he hasn’t disappointed.”… “A bigger part that’s not even talked about is how good of a teammate he is, how good of a person,” forward David Lee said. “Not naming any names, I wish that all of the superstars in the league were as good of a guy as Steph. He represents our game in the proper way and does things the right way.”
- D-Leaguer Dewayne Dedmon may soon be signing on with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to Marc Stein of ESPN: “Hearing Sixers are lining up 10-day deal w/Santa Cruz Warriors C Dewayne Dedmon, who had stint earlier this season with big-league Warriors.”
- The year of the broken hands continued with this news about Danny Green, from Spurs.com: “Spurs guard Danny Green underwent an exam on Monday in San Antonio that included both an X-ray and an MRI on his left hand. Results revealed he has a nondisplaced fracture of his second metacarpal. Green suffered the injury in the first half of the Spurs-Timberwolves game on Sunday night. He is expected to miss approximately four weeks.”
- Marc Gasol could be rejoining the Memphis Grizzlies lineup soon, according to Chris Vernon of The Chris Vernon Show: “Marc Gasol going through full practice tomorrow. They are gonna see how goes and then who knows.”
- Kevin Garnett hates playing the center position, according to David Aldridge of NBA.com: “Garnett hates playing center. The way Lou Grant hated spunk. “Should’ve had that [bleep] put in my contract,” he said with a mordant chuckle late Friday. “That’s what I should have done. Tell Jason I said that.”… But it starts with Garnett — who, again, is the last guy to quit or give in. He’s fading fast on offense, but his team-altering DNA was always there on defense. Just as happened in Boston, when coach Doc Rivers moved him to the middle out of desperation late in their joint stay there, and Boston’s defense went through the roof, Garnett’s ability to see plays as they happen, communicate and use his remaining quickness to clog the paint has helped Brooklyn. That doesn’t mean he likes the job. Think of him as the world’s best sewer cleaner. “It’s not my preference, but it’s what it is,” he said. “Whatever we have to do to win, that’s what it is.”
- Carmelo Anthony says he and J.R. Smith communicate extensively, from Marc Berman of New York Post: ““We have numerous talks,’’ Anthony said after the Knicks’ 102-92 victory Saturday. “Me and J.R. talk sometimes all day and night. Certain situations, you have to open your eyes and look yourself in the mirror and say, ‘It’s time to change myself. Everyone else is giving me chances and everybody else wants me to change. If I’m not changing myself, it’s irrelevant.’ “I think this is a situation that opened his eyes up. He looked at himself in the mirror, hopefully, and said he wants to change, he’s got to change. It’s up to him now.”
