The feature game of the night was Portland at San Antonio, a battle for the top spot in the Western Conference pecking order. The Blazers have been a tremendous road team this season and their star players, LaMarcus Aldridge/POR and Damian Lillard/POR, carried them to victory. Great individual performances abounded, headlined by Kevin Durant’s/OKC remarkable game against the Warriors. Blake Griffin/LAC, Stephen Curry/GSW, Carmelo Anthony/NYK and Al Jefferson/CHA were no slouches either. While the Saturday night schedule is a bit lighter, there is still plenty of action in the DraftStreet NBA universe. Here is today’s Fantasy Spin.
Fantasy Boom and Bust
Top Performers:
Kevin Durant/OKC. If carrying the Thunder is weighing on Durant it is not apparent to my eye. On a night he should have been tired, he poured in 54. 19 of 28 FGA, 11 of 13 FTA, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 5 TO, 54 points.
Al Jefferson/CHA. After a slow start to the season, Jefferson has been a fantasy beast.
Stephen Curry/GSW. His three-point shooting could not keep pace with Durant
Carmelo Anthony/NYK. His one-man show wasn’t enough to beat a good team like the Clippers.
Chris Bosh/MIA. While Dwayne Wade/MIA is at less than full strength, Bosh will be counted upon to support LeBron.
LeBron James/MIA, Pau Gasol/LAL, Goran Dragic/PHO
Sleepers:
Kelly Olynyk/BOS. Last night was Exhibit A on why you can’t rely on Celtics players. Kris Humphries/BOS got in early foul trouble and became an afterthought while Olynyk played starters minutes. The next game it could be Olynyk’s turn to sit. 11 of 17 FGA, 2 of 2 FTA, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 1 TO, 25 points.
Gerald Wallace/BOS. Part of an impressive bench attack.
Manu Ginobili/SAS. With Tony Parker/SAS at less than full capacity, Ginobili got more touches.
Shane Battier/MIA. Usually limited to defense duties.
Timofey Mozgov/DEN, Kirk Hinrich/CHI.
Disappointments:
Michael Carter-Williams/PHI. Shooting was off. 1 of 7 FGA, 5 of 6 FTA, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 1 steal, 5 TO, 7 points.
Josh Smith/DET. Once in a while he will throw in horrible games like this, and the Pistons have no shot at winning on those nights.
Greg Monroe/DET, Miles Plumlee/PHO, Harrison Barnes/GSW, Iman Shumpert/NYK.
