It was the night of the blowout around the NBA, so much so that Indiana’s comprehensive 106-92 win over the Clippers was a close game, relatively speaking. The Sixers had difficult making the three-point shot and the Bulls mesmerized them with ball movement, winning 103-78. The Jazz were ice cold in the first half and the Timberwolves coasted in the second half to a 98-72 win. And topping it off was the most unexpected blowout – the Blazers’ demolition of the Mavericks until a fourth quarter Mavs rally made the score respectable. With the arguable exception of the Spurs, the Blazers are the most complete team in the West and given the Spurs’ key injuries have the inside track for the number one seed for the playoffs. We have one afternoon game on Sunday, followed by a break, and then four more evening games as the NFL games wrap up. Here is today’s Fantasy Spin.
Fantasy Boom and Bust
Top Performers:
Joakim Noah/CHI. He started slowly in the first quarter but became the focal point of the Bulls attack in the second quarter onwards. The Bulls starters tend to stay on the floor longer than usual in garbage time, and Noah racked up stats when the game was comfortably won. 9 of 14 FGA, 3 of 3 FTA, 16 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 4 blocks, 2 TO, 21 points.
Terrence Jones/HOU, Stephen Curry/GSW, Paul George/IND, LaMarcus Aldridge/POR, Anthony Davis/NOP, Nikola Pekovic/MIN, LeBron James/MIA
Sleepers:
D.J. Augustin/CHI. The Bulls offense runs better with him at the helm, but it may take a trade of Kirk Hinrich/CHI to make it happen. 7 of 10 FGA, 3 of 3 FTA, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals, 2 TO, 19 points.
Andrew Bogut/GSW. Golden State was in greater need of Bogut and he had one of his best games of the year.
Udonis Haslem/MIA, Robin Lopez/POR, Jeremy Evans/UTA.
Disappointments:
David West/IND. 2 of 4 FGA, 2 rebounds, 1 TO, 4 points, 15+ minutes.
Michael Carter-Williams/PHI. Two bad games in two days. Opposing defenses are adapting to MC-W’s slashing play and his outside shooting is being exposed as a weakness.
Shawn Marion/DAL, Trevor Booker/WAS.
