Somehow I missed recommending Carmelo Anthony/NYK. Anyone who didn’t have Melo in their lineup last night had a tough time earning cash at DraftStreet, as the Knicks main man had the game of the year, smashing New York’s losing streak and the Bobcats in one go. I tweeted at my followers yesterday afternoon that the $5/$10,000 GPP was headed for a possible overlay, and sure enough when contest registration closed the participants had a 10.5% overlay. That’s the equivalent of free money. The top 12 teams in that contest all featured Anthony in their lineups, as did 17 of the top 20. There were other surprises last night, most notably the Pacers’ struggles against a injury-riddled Sacramento Kings. Saturday sees a lighter schedule – only eight games. That’s plenty to fill out our lineups at DraftStreet for another shot at the big money. Here is today’s Fantasy Spin.
Fantasy Boom and Bust
Top Performers:
Melo/NYK. Brough the house down with a Kobe-esque shooting spree. 23 of 35 FGA, 10 of 10 FTA, 13 rebounds, 0 TO, 62 points.
Tobias Harris/ORL. The poor Lakers defense makes another player look like a superstar.
Stephen Curry/GSW. When you know David Lee/GSW isn’t healthy, you also know that offensive responsibilities for the Warriors will fall on Curry and Klay Thompson/GSW.
Kevin Love/MIN, Paul George/IND, Kyle Lowry/TOR, Blake Griffin/LAC, Andre Drummond/DET.
Sleepers:
Marcus Thornton/SAC. Even after he started hot, the Pacers allowed him plenty of open looks. 16 of 27 FGA, 3 of 4 FTA, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 TO, 42 points.
Mirza Teletovic/BKN. The Microwave would have been proud. Teletovic was deadly in the first half.
Anthony Morrow/NOP, Kendall Marshall/LAL, Gustavo Ayon/ATL, Tyler Zeller/CLE
Disappointments:
Joe Johnson/BKN. Twenty-nine minutes of nothing. 1 of 5 FGA, 2 of 2 FTA, 2 assists, 4 TO, 5 points.
Jeff Teague/ATL. Joins the Hawks injury list.
Brandon Knight/MIL, Kosta Koufos/MEM, Alan Anderson/BKN.
