It was a performance the entire league was talking about.
The prolific scoring forward was going off, just knocking down jump shot after jump shot, rarely subjecting the ball to even the slightest graze of the rim.
He had 20, then 30, then 40, and there was still plenty of time left in the fourth quarter.
He was at NBA Jam levels of On Fire, replete with the flaming basketball and the echoed enthusiasm of the announcers.
It was the type of game that could lift a struggling team to the top of the Atlantic Division and maybe even a playoff run. It might just be the signature moment of the season.
Yeah, no one can stop talking about Terrence Ross’ 51 points against the Clippers on Saturday night.
What, you thought I was talking about Melo?
Sure, Anthony’s 62 at the Garden last Friday was the stuff of legend, but it wasn’t even on the same stratosphere of shockingness as Ross’ 51 point “Where the Hell Did That Come From?” game.
Here’s what’s so crazy about the T-Ross (I feel like I have to call him that now) performance: HE WAS ONLY AVERAGING 10 POINTS PER GAME!!
The 22-year old kid from Washington followed up his 51 point game with 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting against the Nets on Monday. Three games before he hung half a hundred on the Clips, he scored A SINGLE POINT in 21 minutes in a loss to the Bobcats!!
It was the most unexpected 50 point game since Tony Delk put up 2 quarters on the Kings in 2001.
Tracy Murray couldn’t believe Ross went for that many.
It was, without a doubt, the most improved performance of the NBA season, and it’s not even remotely close.
It makes you wonder how many guys in the league could put up 50 if given the chance.
We can’t put Ross in the rankings just yet (especially since he came crashing back to Earth with that 10-point performance at Brooklyn).
But for one night, Terrence out-improved everyone in the NBA.
On to the rankings.
