RANK | PLAYER | RUNDOWN | LAST |
1 | LANCE STEPHENSON, G, INDIANA: The Lance-a-lot video, combined with a couple of big-time performances, have cemented him as the new favorite to win this award. He went off for a combined 47 points, 20 rebounds and 13 assists in two games against Sacramento and Denver. His numbers are way up all the way across the board. | 3
2 | ISAIAH THOMAS, G, SACRAMENTO: Another nice week for the Pizza Guy, who has had to carry the Kings in the absence of Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins (both out with injuries). His shooting numbers have been ugly of late, but that’s what happens when your second option is Marcus Thornton. Put up 38 and 6 in overtime loss to Pacers on Friday. | 1
3 | ANDRE DRUMMOND, C, DETROIT: Much like Kels Dayton in NBA 2K14, he’s wasting away on an embarrassment of a team. Etroit spoiled his ridiculous 21 and 20 by losing to the Pelicans at home on Friday (should be illegal), and are 3-7 this month when ‘Dre posts a double-double. | 4
4 | ANTHONY DAVIS, F-C, NEW ORLEANS: Ranking him as a Most Improved Player candidate is kind of like calling the Yale grad who spent the summer in Costa Rica an overachiever when he came back and landed a job with Google. Still, the ‘Brow had a preposterous 22, 19 and 7 blocks in a win over Orlando on Sunday. | 2
5 | DEANDRE JORDAN, C, L.A. CLIPPERS: This is a nod to everybody who’s been talking up DeAndre on Twitter. Yes, his minutes are up, but his league-leading rebounding (13.8 per) and field goal percentage totals (.642) are hard to ignore. He’s also averaging 2.4 blocks (4th in the league), up from 1.4 in 2012-13. Doc sure knows how to coach ’em up. |

DROPOUTS: Reggie Jackson, G, Oklahoma City (5).
NEXT FIVE: Marcus/Markieff Morris, Fs, Phoenix; Paul George, F, Indiana; DeMarcus Cousins, C, Sacramento; Arron Afflalo, G, Orlando, Miles Plumlee, C, Phoenix.
OTHER RANKINGS: MVP | Sixth Man | Power | Rookie
