It didn’t necessarily have any marquee names, but a three-team trade that sent Jordan Crawford and MarShon Brooks to the Golden State Warriors was the talk around the league on Wednesday (before Nick Young threw some punches). See below for some insight and analysis on the who and the why: Chris Sheridan broke down what the trade does for each team involved. Tweet of the Night: Dwyane Wade says he must play much better after embarrassing loss to Wizards
Coming into Wednesday’s contest against the Washington Wizards, LeBron James scoffed at the notion that the Miami Heat were coasting this season. In fact, he even made a bold statement to follow up his claim that neither he nor the Heat were coasting, from Tom Haberstroh of ESPN: With two days off this weekend and a refreshing visit to the White House on Tuesday, James promises we’ll see a different James against the 17-19 Washington Wizards. “We’ll see Wednesday how I’m coasting,” James
Tweet of the Day: Bill Simmons Weighs in on 3-Team Trade
NBA on ESPN analyst and Grantland editor in chief Bill Simmons maintains many titles: writer, fan, Los Angeles Clippers season ticket holder, husband, dad, among a few others. Among the many hats that he wears, he is an avid Boston Celtics fan. If you’ve followed his blogs or read his book, you know that he has been a big Celtics fan since he was a child—when his father would take him to the old Boston Garden. The whole thing was so ludicrous, so obviously staged, that Dukakis riding a tank became a euphemism for anything that seemed so completely out
Fantasy Spin: Wednesday, January 15, 2014
The Knicks battled the Bobcats until fading in the final minutes. The Kings were cooled off by the Pacers in a surprisingly high scoring game in Indiana. DeMarcus Cousins/SAC didn’t get much help from his teammates while Paul George/IND poured in 31 points. Despite an injury Kevin Durant/OKC played 41 minutes and scored 37, but he didn’t get enough support and the Thunder fell to the Grizzlies. The Cavaliers and Lakers lit up the scoreboard, with Cleveland narrowly winning 120-118.
Sheridan’s MVP Rankings, Jan. 15 Edition: Where will Adam Silver be Hated First?
Adam Silver is a nice guy, or so I’ve come to believe. There are those who will tell you the exact is opposite, but they say so in a whisper. They are not what is known in NBA headquarters as an FOA (Friend of Adam), and thus they fear and loathe him the same way so many basketball fans fear, loathe … and hate, yes hate, outgoing commissioner David Stern. Fairly or unfairly, Stern has become a lightning rod for every grievance
