For the first time since January 20, no one hit 40 points. Nevertheless, the NBA had more than enough excitement to go around on a day that was filled with historic feats and emotional returns. Here’s everything that you need to know about last night’s action. [Read more…]

Tweet of the Night: Reaction to Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett’s Return to Boston
When the NBA schedule was released prior to the start of the season, everyone in Boston had Sunday, January 26th circled on their calendars. There aren’t many games to mark down when your team is gearing up to be one of the worst in the league, but this night would mark the return of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Boston for the first time. SH Blog: Pierce and Garnett Return to Boston; Miami too Hot for San Antonio; T-Ross Goes Off
To say it’s been an eventful 24 hours of basketball is a major understatement. NBA fans were treated to emotional tributes, heavyweight tilts and massive scoring outputs. In addition to all the fun, NBA Sunday Showcase also returned. For the remainder of the season (with the exception of Super Bowl Sunday) fans can watch top teams in the league go head-to-head during the daylight hours. Let’s go to Boston, where two highly anticipated returns brought many to tears. Kevin Garnett: six years, one
Scotto: Is Carmelo Anthony Stuck in New York? — UPDATE
It took seven words from Carmelo Anthony to bring hysteria to New York before the season started. “I want to be a free agent,” Anthony told The New York Observer. Since then, the $129 million question hovering over the Knicks – like the Chase Bridge at Madison Square Garden – is whether the franchise can re-sign Anthony to a maximum contract this offseason. On the surface, it appears less likely Anthony will remain in a New York state of mind by summertime
May: Reunion Time is the Right Time for Pierce and KG
So far, my preseason predictions look a lot like the Red Wedding scene in Game of Thrones. Jason Kidd as Coach of the Year? Um, probably not. They are three games under .500 (19-22) at the halfway point of the season. But . . . and you knew there was a ‘but’ coming .
Fantasy Spin: Sunday, January 26, 2014
It was a bit of a surprise to see Kevin Durant/OKC active last night, given that his teammates could have handled the Sixers without him. He didn’t explode for major buckets, but instead went the stat omnivore route. In Toronto, it looked for a time that the top two Raptors were going down to injury, but Kyle Lowry/TOR played the game out without incident after knocking knees with Blake Griffin/LAC.. DeMar DeRozan’s/TOR fall looked worse and he had to abandon

Tweet of the Night: Portland defeats Minnesota; marks 33rd win of the season
In a highly contested matchup between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Trail Blazers prevailed to win their 33rd game of the season. Though 33 wins in an 82 game season isn’t exactly a major feat, it does tell of how far this team has come in one season. There are still 38 games left in the season, and Portland has managed to tie their total amount of wins from last year in half that time. [Read more…]
