Tired Spurs Ripe for an Upset
San Antonio Spurs at Brooklyn Nets (8:00 pm EST); over/under 196; Nets -6. INJURIES: SAS: Tim Duncan (Q), Tony Parker (OUT), Kawhi Leonard (OUT), Manu Ginobili (OUT) ; BKN: Andrei Kirilenko (P), Joe Johnson (P).
For the third time in a row, the Spurs were trailing well into the second half and eventually rallied to win. That shows character in combination with thinning depth due to injury. The injury woes continue. Parker/SAS has already been ruled out of today’s game and Duncan/SAS will probably rest. That bodes well for the value of the lesser Spurs, if not for the team’s prospects of winning in Brooklyn. If Duncan doesn’t play, Tiago Splitter/SAS will be one of the top value plays in this game.
Chicago Bulls at Golden State Warriors (10:30 pm EST); over/under 191; Warriors -8. INJURIES: CHI: none ; GSW: none.
The Warriors face another defensive battle and sooner or later their shooters will have a big day and a 20+ point victory will occur. That could be tonight. With few blue-chip plays on offer, Stephen Curry/GSW is a must-start. The battle between Joakim Noah/CHI and Andrew Bogut/GSW will be interesting to watch and early foul trouble for other could spell doom for those who have one or the other in their lineups.
